Testing after the dev response was inconclusive, most I had it at was +2 or so attack per merit, or a very small percentage, under 1%, per merit. Having tested ranged pDIF and narrowed it down to an accurate model (much less annoying than melee pDIF, it's nice), I was finally able to get accurate data on these merits.

Previously I would not have recommended physical potency over magic accuracy for a majority of situations. With concrete data I can say that I would never recommend magic accuracy over physical potency.

Now, with these new changes, I'm curious as to whether CA recast or Magical accuracy are the better merits. As somebody who religiously forgets about his CA timer, I don't really know how helpful it is. Perhaps I just need to stop sucking at it.

5/5 Physical Potency
5/5 Magical Accuracy

for most people.

5/5 CA recast over macc if you end up using CA a lot. more often than most... I personally don't usually use it every single time it's up as I either don't have enough TP to make use of it or the monster I'm fighting doesn't have enough HP to support it

Well crap, looks like I need to re-do my BLU merits again. Mine were done when we all thought that potency sucked. Right now I have 5/5 macc and CA recast. I used to use CA every single time it was up, but now that I have a 90 Almace, I find myself not wanting to dump that 50 tp into a spell. And now that you did the testing to find out potency > macc, I think I'm gona go back that route.

I use CA a lot but I'm often reckless with it (always shooting for the skillchain damage kill <_<)

Now I have to figure out if I actually use it effectively for the timer or if I should remove those merits for Physical Potency.

Has anyone noticed how easily blue magic gets interrupted now?

Nothing in my sets has changed, but something as simple as 1 hit on me regardless of damage would interrupt my casting nearly every time now :<

I hadn't actually done much testing but yeah, I feel like before I could cast through an entire wave of mobs np, but now I can almost never do so. I've had to use actinic to be able to sleep anything. And I'd just claim it's something to do with the new area mobs but the same thing happens in whisker burning in abyssea.

Haven't been on Blu anywhere else lately, but definitely noticing this in the new areas. Feels really weird to be interrupted at all on Blu, just not used to this happening.

Interruption is based on the mob's lvl vs your skill level, it's to be expected that VT~IT mobs will interrupt you more often than the EP~EMs that we're used to dealing with

I had no idea it worked this way... I always thought it was to do with damage taken vs skill level.

it's why it's so much easier to be interrupted by EMs or Ts while whisker burning as opposed to EPs or DCs.

Interesting how a TW can interupt utsusemi with a 7 damage crit, I don't think the interuption rate should varry so much.

That's because your ninjitsu is at the level of a 49 NIN, unless you're talking about NIN main.

Regardless, if you're looking to sleep stuff in the newer zones, aquaveil is a life-saver, especially in reives. Dream flower > aquaveil > whirl of rage (before they wake) > dream flower > repeat.

Crits also play a part too. But you never noticed as a job75/sub37 that your main spells could almost never be interrupted when farming yet even lvl 40 jobs could interrupt your subjob spells Leo?

Yeah... It does make a lot of sense when you put it that way lol

I've found in my tests back at 75 that you could have just below the 104(or was it 106) cap and you'd still get interrupted "almost" just as much. I just recall being forced to kill my tp by dualing the wands if I wanted any hope of being uninterruptable.

Honestly though my testing had plenty of holes in it due to lack of gear and a lack of willingness to spend 20 years making sure a mob hit me, but just once during the window. And it isn't parseable unless you either want multiple mobs hitting you an unknown amount of times during your cast window or to have a single mob that may or may not actually hit during it.

ItemSet 225946

So this is my current tp set, plenty of room for improvement. Does Thurandaut Chapeau beat out nq oce. headpiece? Still don't have that stupid Toci's harness, so stuck with mintan +2 for now.

I don't think dropping down to 20% haste would be worth +3% dual wield.

I had 102% ( this is how much you need because of rounding ) at some point for my BLU. Never got interrupted. Im 99% sure with 102% nothing can interrupt you unless it kills you.

ItemSet 296867

Talar is not needed if you have gils for Spurrina.

Also I am a little surprised none of the sets on front page has no Whirl of Rage included in it. Its one of the best spells that BLU can use. Its priceless for crowd control ( resleeping mobs with whirl > flower is especially great when there is many of them and they wake up in different time so you can wake them all with whirl and resleep before they can move ). Its dmg its also huge if you hit few mobs with it.

You got spell interruption rate merits? You may be right that it's 102, the only thing I was sure of was that it's higher than 100%. It's been a long time since I pulled all that gear out.

It is nice to know that you can cap without weapon swap now, that makes it far more viable. I actually have all that gear aside from Adhara and that wouldn't be hard to get. I may play around with it at some point.

Yes that is close to the set I have, minus the talar. Shouldn't be needed with merits.
