Not 100% sure, but the one at :17 could be Sensilla Blades from chapuli.

Is there a particular reason you won't use at least Rancor Collar?

I guess you could use, like... Nefarious Collar or Fortitude Torque.

I think I was using, um, Agasaya's before Rancor Collar came out? But that may have been gimp even then. I definitely was.

Fail on my part. Who knows what gimp neckpiece I was wearing then. Odds are, I was full-timing it ; ;

Speaking of which, coming up fast on the one year anniversary of this guide, which changed not only the way I played BLU but the way I played the game and all my other jobs. Someone get Proth's address so we can send him a nice bottle of bourbon or something.

Nefarious, but you really shouldn't worry about rancor unless you're fighting a mob with a very powerful tp move(like Death Scissor or something).

even less on blu with Sudden lunch.

quick question about efflux and af3 pants. Do I need to the pants on when I use efflux or when casting? Couldn't find any info on that. Also for Requiescat set where does Brutal and Epona's fit in? I noticed they weren't listed in any sets.

I'd heard at some point that the emp stuff had to stay on to get the bonus, so my xml has that worked in. But I'm not actually sure as I've heard both ways. I just figure better to be safe until I see it confirmed by a good source.

So, how does the general nuke set differ from a Charged Whisker set if at all. I remember dex playing a big role, and could anyone say what changes to gear you'd want during Burst Affinity?

i cant think of a reason to take them off, 15 blu skill and 8 str/dex make them a solid physical casting piece. but they do have to remain on to get the bonus.

ok, quick question about the new content. What exactly could I be doing wrong, I am getting destroyed in like 3-4 hits during colony rieve.

I have started subbing whm for reraise and stoneskin, because both the rabbits and grasshoppers have aoe that clears shadows, making /nin moot.

trying to get enough bayld to buy the new head piece, for HS, before my server loses interest and we lose the ability to buy it. I also need the gloves, all of this is necessary because I don't have a group for any "advanced" content.

I must be forgetting something or doing something wrong, or have the wrong spells set or something.

A little help? I read about people getting 5k bayld per rieve like its no issues, but on most of the ones I have done, I die multiple times and only get credit for the win if I am up when it dies.

Thanks,

Blu is excellent for reives, can sleep all the mobs and attack the root/nest/boulder/whatever without trouble.

Im no pro BLU, but I find /RDM is nice because you can phalanx/stoneskin/protect3 yourself. That with cocoon helps get the AoEs down to ~200 damage which is very manageable with magic fruit. Only think you lose out on is RR, but you can always get a scroll/earring/etc. I usually kill 1-2 mobs, then try to work on the roots and hope theres a PLD there to pull all the mobs off the root attackers.

I've had good results using /rdm and using PDT gear. Find the right amount of PDT that works for you. Keep phalanx and cocoon up. When not being attacked, or if you have a good Fast Cast set, you can put up Stoneskin. Maybe use Filamented Hold or Cimicine Discharge(be careful with this one in case other things are nearby. Dream Flower is very very useful.

Be carefull to not link too much (easy to say) and yes you can sleep easily all the mobs ^^

Personnally I /NIN. mobs are T - IT now, so BLU should forget abyssea time... It makes me remember the aht urgan region at 75.

IF you loose the bonus when you take them off(which I'm not sure on), it would be an big issue for spellcast users who return to idle gear after a JA. So I have mine locked in, the only disadvantage to that is it forces you to ws prior to using CA and EF so you don't ws in the wrong gear.

This is Prothescar's nuke set he's got in this blu guide
ItemSet 166378
But whisker will have a few key differences because dex is a bit more valuable than int under BA and has a decent mod to boot.

+7 Dex rings > 6 INT > 5 Dex
Wanion belt or artful (+1)
Oce. Headpiece +1 or Thurandaut Chapeau
Spear strap
Morri +1 > Tessera Saio > Athos > Toci's

Don't take these as for certain but those are the changes I would make compared to the normal nuke set. Prothe's burning guide is a bit outdated on the gear set so I'm just guessing on a few pieces based on what I use and what I've seen recommended in the past.

The problem is I don't always have them on prior to me about to cast the Efflux'd spell so I tend to hit the ja and equip them during the casting of the spell. Just sort of occurred to be they might need to be equipped when the ja is used this morning, but I couldn't find any info on it.

Blu subbed nin for DWIII(Edit:II @75) as much as for shadows. Because we can get DWIII on our own, the sub is far less valuable. A few T's and IT's aren't reason to destroy your DPS unless your in a heavy solo mode. Get an eva set, a PDT set use cocoon and you'll be fine.

In any situation you are acting as a DD you should be on /war particularly if you have healing to back you up.

I just run in with eva gear on, actinic, gather up the ones I didn't hit and then sleep them. When they wake up, whirl them for the stun as well as making sure they are all awake so they can be slept again and just keep beating on the roots. For anyone with no back up who is having trouble, you might set occ and a second sleep

If things go to hell, don't forget that cocoon + defender + PDT/eva is an amazing resource.

considering the mob levels are higher than mobs you're normally dealing with evading how is evasion rates in hybrid and full eva sets vs T-IT?

I go based on situation, if I throw on my eva set and don't see a visually noticeable rate of misses, I switch to PDT or start stun locking.

Tried eva set, and found it not conclusive.
And as a NIN i can stay on my TP set and my set for ws/spells so i don't think my DPS suffer so much from my sub

Results vary, and some situations warrant a more defensive set up but don't forget, you can't swing and cast utsu at the same time.

Given the ratio cap increase, does blu skill weigh a little heavier now in our physical sets? Would you main the AF2+2 head now for basically all spells?
