Has that new fire sword been mathed out at all for off-hand DPS?

As I wrote here, it's a hybrid sword. The 11 extra D helps soften the blow of losing 3STR and 23 attack, however it isn't enough to compensate entirely. The main draw for it is that it serves two purposes at once, offensive and defensive offhand. That said, the situations in which 4% PDT on your offhand sword will matter are very few.

It's still pretty cool looking though.

It does look badass! I was just praying I really didn't have to grind a fire sword lol. Guess I will end up trying to grind one out soon then lol.

new craftable sword isn't terrible until then, if you can find materials and a crafter. skirmish sword still has potential too, but won't know for sure where it sits until we start seeing the augment pool.

So at the risk of sounding stupid, why is there so much hate for using the Chiv Chain as a TP neck piece? I grabbed a Rancor Collar that I have Macro'd in for WS but I see a lot of Blu that use it for tp as well. I was just thinking the Store TP on the chain would be useful in building up for a WS faster.

I'm sure that Proth can explain this better with all of his maths and such, but I'll try. Basically the 5% crit hit rate is incredibly sexy and continuous crits during the TP phase, which is one of our greatest contributors to DPS, outweighs the 1 STP. Getting to the next WS is obviously important, but you should never ignore the DoT of just swinging our swords.

Chiv chain isn't a bad tp piece it's that rancor collar and it's crit rate bonus (with 250 emoberries killed) and 6 acc provides better DoT than stp 1 str 3 and 5 acc.

not sure if you have almace to use rancor for ws or you mean just vorpal but there's nothing wrong with using chiv for (other) ws until you have something better(i know neck options for blu is somewhat stiff besides rancor/portus for ws and tp). If your rancor collar isn't unlocked pcc is a great alternative.

STP is a make or break sort of thing, it's functional for one-handers to use but you have to know exactly how much you need and it must save hits on your tp phase to ws phase to be considered useful.

Curious on belt selection for my current CdC set.

ItemSet 290439

Using that and getting 93+86 DEX, wondering if Caudata Belt would be better with so much DEX.

I know the other options in other slots, only asking for waist, thanks :3

I might be wrong but Morri+1 are better hands for Sanguine than Af3+2.

Also ( Thats for fun more than anything really ) you can achieve some ridiculous Sanguine blade damage in abyssea making you pretty much immortal ( kinda like Catastrophe except DD potential is obviously nowhere near ) I cant find any reason to actually do that aside from fun from watching your red hp goes to 100% when WS.

Well things have changed a little with naaktual weapons getting the D bump. Sword comes dangerously, dangerously close to beating a lv90 Almace, possibly beating it entirely.

Yeah, if you give up a trial, you lose all progress on said trial.

What a shame. :<

I'm gonna make my best attempt to 99 Almace as soon as I can bribe LS members to attend Apademaks. <_<

Even with CDC and AM? So Requi with the new fire sword beats 90 Almace? That's insane.

Looks like the dmg on all of those beast king drops from SoA were adjusted. Perhaps they aren't going to be as good as we had thought :(

Edit: And I stand corrected, they all got better.... WTF that sword now... And dem h2h.....

Isn't it more so competing with a STR sword though?

What kinda DPS difference are we looking at between the new sword and Almace 99, 95 and 90?

And how much better is the new one for offhand than a STR sword??

So right now I'm using Ocelomeh +1 + Athos's Tabard + 3x Thaumas for CDC, but I think I might actually do better with 5/5 Thaumas because of the set bonus. Wanted to check here.

Also, will Thurandaut Chapeau bring some semblance of value to Ephemeron if the DW is decent?

They're great Pdt and cure feet, but thaumas nails will be better for requiescat.

I think Orvail is pretty nice if you're lacking Morrigan's +1 though.

Lots of questions here that require math that I don't want to do right now so I'll give educated estimates.

Sekundes - will very likely beat 90 almace, maybe 95, definitely not 99.

Kincard - If no Toci, just keep that setup and change pants to athos if you have them.

Hyunkyl - If you haven't got Thaumas sure use them for Requie. As for Orvail I haven't looked at the set yet, I trust Leo's judgment is accurate though.

so wait, I just finished my almace less than an hour before the expansion goes live, and already it is out classed?

Also can someone help me with the timing on CDC to AS? I can't seem to get it.

I can do Req to Quad Cont. just fine, but I can't do my new darkness.

Thanks.
