Google'd it and it seems like the dates in the version files?

Friend of mine had this problem a while back she kept having the change the dates every update. I sent my ver files and had her delete the ones she had and use mine and it worked.

You might need to change the numbers in the boot.ver file too.
The 3 files in there are boot.ver, game.ver, and patch.ver.

How the ***did you greentext your post link?

Also did you change the numbers in the game.ver and boot.ver.? These files are in your FFVXI folder where the executables are. Open them with notepad.

Because you have to know every single thing about a video game to moderate a forum...? I don't think you know how this works.

turn off uac?

it could be corrupted data from the download

probably best to just redownload the update via the game's software or with utorrent.

The only time I had that problem was from when I'd Alt-Tab when I was using the Full Screen mode. When I changed to Windowed mode I stopped getting that issue.

use the borderless window script for a fullscreen experience while being in windowed mode

You might try updating or reinstalling your video drivers. If the get corrupted somehow, it can cause this issue. This has happened to me a couple of time actually since ffxiv was released, but I still don't get why the hell this game can't handle it when every other game I've ever played recovers fine from the same problem.

If you have uac turned on and something causes a uac prompt to come up, that will also do it...so turn uac off or stop whatever software is causing the prompts.

Tried 6 different driver versions, not the problem.

UAC lasts a good 45 sec on a new machine for me.
