Why stop at 99 when there is an additional upgrade available to add afterglow? x: Just saying... The weapon becomes unique at 75, for mythic/relics, and 80 (though WS isnt available til 85) for empyreans. Additional points would make more sense.

Should only count if they have afterglow as well, since those are the complete forms of the weapons

You're saying the millions of gil and hours spent to get Lv75(Relics/Mythics)(80Empyreans) shouldn't matter and people have to double their efforts in order to get points on ffxiah for it? Some people are satisfied with Lv95 relics, read Erikthecleric, and plates/dross/cinder are a daunting trial to some Empyrean owners which are already less than half points of a relic.
I also just realized that all relic/mythic base weapon/shield/instruments are 75 lol. But the meaning is the same, when they become their 'relic'/'mythic' stage, they become unique.
As mentioned, Un-Afterglow 99 isn't complete either.

Instead of giving 0 points for 75-95 why not have it setup so that each 5 levels gives a set amounts of points. 75-500 80-600 85-700 etc(Just an example I have no idea how many points they give atm). This should appease both sides.
This topic has been argued many times, if I remember right, mostly because of the stigma of it being so much easier to obtain a relic then le olde days, however true that may be, its not that way for everyone. Still took me 2 full months of dynamis + salvage + VW gil runs to get mine x:. End all be all: Objective achievements are objective.

Unless SE's community site starts seeing 99's and other level relics, mythics and empy's can be transferred to FFXIAH sans guildwork then they won't do it.
I like how he's yet to respond to the idea of it being weapon complete with afterglow rather than simply 99

Whether or not these weapons are more common than the relics were at 75, it doesn't mean that they're not an achievement. Despite all of the exaggeration people like to do, not everyone has an empyrean(etc). You're still a minority, and they do require a large amount of effort compared to just about everything else.

Technically I am in one, however I am broke, and they're still 10m per to keep attendance up. I may have gil on me, it is however not intended for marrows.
It probably also doesnt help I have next to no drive to farm the pops, or do most anything ffxi related for that matter. I'd honestly rather sell the marrows to get other items I want then Aegis 99, as its one of the least useful upgrades imo, for my PLD/any job I have...
As with everything though, everyone looks at this stuff differently. Maybe they'll add the upped points per lvl upgrade, but as Sekundes said, it would be difficult because of how LSC works, and not everyone uses guildwork.
