they really should increase the prizes in that, I mean come on...
This is the crappiest road map i ever seen, the only important feature is the new gui for windows version. The massive rehashing is quite annoying. They need to ditch the ps2 version and go f2p. tell me, what would ditching the ps2 version accomplish?

maybe, but it could have to just do with seperating the game into multiple windows, which would be useful if one had multiple monitors, one could have some things to the right, and the main game in front of them. Which actually would be pretty cool.
does this mean that SE is gonna finally allow us to 2box on 1 machine without using a 3rd pt tool :X

F2p games makes way more money than monthly paid, because most users spends crazy money daily with that, also can bring a lot of new people to the game. Need to ditch the ps2 version so they can create new real content and expansions. The ps2 hard disk limits the game a lot, i heard WoW is going free to play on 2013. lord of the rings, lineage 2 and most mmos are free2play now

I'd agree on the free to play if they'd have done it 5 years ago. But I think it's a tad too late for that, if they did do a v.2 sure.
As for the PS2, you have no idea what you're talking about as it's not limiting any of these things. (not to mention it was never the hard drive, it was the partition and they already increased the size).
I believe I made a post about the free to play thing awhile back, prolly when XIV was being developed.

Lol I can see how ffxi f2p would work. People buying mythics and relica ubtil the next update when its replaced,and buying the nwxt thing all over again lol not like that but they can sell custom clothing ( alot of cosmetic stuff for characters) exp,mp,int,mnd and hp boost items .etc , items that grant access to some exclusive areas, addional storage and inventory space and many more with a virtual in-game market

that's kinda what I thought, but they usually tease us, & tell us it's coming out. I haven't heard ***yet. when is 10 years? late may/early june? I forget It should be around May 16.

I kind of prefer XI as it is to be honest, $12.95 a month is cheap and one has the potential to obtain anything they want instead of requiring to have real money to get the best things.

FFXI, I couldnt get any help with jackshit, even though I healed 4 different linkshells as a full-time "you arent allowed to do anything else" WHM.

I didn't like wow's interface at all, plus I had no interest anyway, was only playing cuz a chick asked me to.
back on track, I really hope they allow the game to be split into multiple windows, so I can move like the party list to another window, would be awesome.

I wouldn't mind them doing a F2P version of FFXI only if they still let people do a monthly fee version and let the F2P people stay on their own server.
I think Everquest 2 does that.

Some nice additions coming up (with the potential for even more at Vana'fest), and an entirely new event in Dungeon Crawling. Definitely excited to see what this is about. Play-as-a-Monster sounds like new Pankration and I could see it being cheesy though.

| FINAL FANTASY XI 2012 Roadmap
Hear ye, hear ye, honored adventurers of Vana'diel!
It is with great pleasure that we bring you the FINAL FANTASY XI roadmap for the six-month period commencing April 2012.
From this update on, new content will be announced in three different categories to more clearly illustrate both content priority and implementation timeframes. Furthermore, yellow cells denote new features that are either particularly important or wide ranging.
Development Stance
The new development cycle adopted at the end of last year will continue, with players testing specific content on the test server, and our development and quality assurance teams refining it based on feedback collected. This process ensures that we will be able to release version updates at a quicker pace and provide a challenging, enjoyable adventuring experience.
Development and Update Release Cycle
Development of new content
Introduction on test server and announcement on official forums
Playtesting phase
- Feedback from test server participants received.
- Development and QA teams explore possible refinements.
Refinement phase
Content is adjusted based on playtesting feedback and updated on the test server.
(*Cycle repeats from step two until content is deemed ready for release.)

The following new content is scheduled to feature on the test server in the coming months:

Job-related Updates
The group two merit point category will receive adjustments early on, followed by the addition of new two-hour abilities and adjustments to monsters' enfeebling magic resistance. Subsequent enhancements to these new two-hour abilities are scheduled for later this year along with an expansion of the job-specific merit point categories.
Multiple adjustments for specific jobs are also planned, as illustrated on the roadmap.
 
Battle Content Updates
In addition to adjustments planned for Voidwatch, Legion, and the Walk of Echoes, previous battle content such as Limbus, Einherjar, and Salvage are set to receive expansions.
 
Two new battle systems and are also scheduled to be introduced and expanded during this time. One system will involve dungeon exploration, while the other will allow PCs to play as monsters.
 
 
Miscellaneous Updates
This category includes system-related and user interface adjustments.
Many of the proposed UI changes will solely affect the Windows version of the game, and some of the first adjustments made will be to introduce new icons and increase their resolution. The next priority will be the introduction of layout customization and a multi-windowed mode, including support for font vectorization and multiple log windows.
After this, we will implement support for continual display of the macro palette, and explore the possibility of displaying recast times in the macro palette.
Fine-tuning Based on Player Feedback
There are currently multiple features displayed on the roadmap that are undergoing refinement based on user feedback. New features will also likely be introduced on the test server even after the release of this roadmap, so stay tuned!
