I finally got my crafting stall, so now I can put in anything else I want without fear of ruining moghancement. With that said, what are some nice furniture pieces to have?
I'd like to have anything rare, or nice to look at, or hard to make, or whatever is more interesting than a bahut or other run of the mill stuff. Cost is not a problem, and I can find people to make anything, so my only restriction is event based stuff I cannot get right now.
Some of the more fun and unusual pieces I have in my mog are a Ngoma, a Tsayan mask (wall hanging, you might want to pass on that one if you are low on wall space), and a winged alter. A fluora-flora was made for me as a gift, that's also a really pretty piece. It glows at night. If you have table space, a San D'Orien tea set is cool. It has snacks without taking up a ton of table space.
If this thread is still active when I log in (probably after the maintenance tomorrow) I can take pics for you. My house is stuffed with fun stuff. (But be warned that a lot of it is common stuff, like fishtanks. I made one of every fishtank for myself the millisecond my woodworking was high enough.)
Uragnite lamp seems to be rare...hmmm my mog is full of event furnishings lol...and w/e that glows...furnishings from Aht Urgahn are rare and very expensive too
Galley Kitchen, its pretty rare and hard to make.
Wastebasket!!!
Royal Bed
Millionare Desk
Crystal Rose
And of course if you have 4 months to work on it daily...
CHOCOBO TROPHIES!!!
Don't forget that you can play dress-up with a mannequin, just so you can look at gear you like or might mean something to you. (I threw a rain-hat on one of mine because every time I see it, I feel a little bit better about getting the drop)

This is the left side of my mog. The furnishings are an Elshimo palm, a winged alter, a candelabrum, a white noble's bed, a flouro-flora, a spinet, a harp stool, a green almirah, a fishtank, a fafnir statue, and a glowfly cage. There's also of course a Whitegate flag and a Windurst flag.
This is the right side of my mog. There's a white viola pot, a bookshelf, a leafbell, a couple fishtanks, a Tsahyan mask, a white round table, vase of Ru'Lude orchids, a Sandorian tea set, a white almirah and a green almirah with fishtanks, a shell assortment, a bonbori, and a bronze rose, a ngoma, another bookshelf with more fishtanks and a timepiece. There's also of course a Jeuno flag.
The spinet plays music all the time, a different song from a pool of 11 songs, every time you enter your mog house if you have your game music turned on. The timepiece plays a tune twice per Vana'diel day. I like those two quite a bit. I also really like the vase of orchids. It's not only beautiful, but it was given to me by someone who used to be my friend who dislikes me quite a bit now, and I wish to remember her in a beautiful way. I adore the flouro-flora both for its beauty and because it was made, signed, and given to me by my husband. It glows at night. The Tsahyan mask is also one of my favorites, as is the winged alter. The almirahs are just there mostly for filler. I like them but they aren't my top favorites. They just keep things from being set on the floor and help continue along the white-and-green color palette I have going on.
The spinet and timepiece were limited time only and aren't available anymore, I don't think. I would recommend the winged alter, Tsahyan mask, and bronze rose. They aren't super common in most mogs, but they are pretty.
I see the OP is from a ways back but I'm stuck waiting on a ride so I'ma tell my tale anyway.
Aside from the bonanza statues being pretty awesome, all the eggs from the Easter events are cool. Been years since I actively did an event but I'm pretty sure I have them all and they make noises and are clocks, I think...
Stopping and freezing a plant at its pinnacle when its glowing is cool looking also.
Mannequins are always a win.
Nothing amazingly rare, but cool looking none the less. Really haven't paid any attention to my MH in ages but when I get back to the game I'll see if I have anything "rare" as I don't throw ***out. FFXI Hoarders.
Sylow, what is that adorable woven-bucket looking thing that you have your pot of white viola set on? And what is that stack of books perpendicular to your spinet against the wall? It doesn't look quite like my bookshelves, but it's pretty.
