Inb4 "Bold all the things" meme. >_>

I'd say, do a relic for the job(s) you really like and/or play the most.
Then it will be worth it in any case.

I wish the nagi was more useful. It looks cooler.

Since this thread is here I don't feel the need to make a new one.

How does Kikoku and Shun do against Kanagi and Hi outside abyssea? I feel I have a pretty strong Shun build atm:

Bomb Core
Oce. Headpiece +1
Flame Gorget
BrutalEarring
Jupiter's Pearl
Iga Ningi +2
Iga Tekko +2
Thundersoul Ring
Thundersoul Ring
Atheling Mantle
Thunder Belt
Byakko's Haidate (no augments)
Iga Kyahan +2

Currently I'm a weapons gimp and only have 2 AGI/EVA katanas, but since I've been drafted as NIN for my wife's dynamis and VW escapades, I want to gear my NIN right and am willing to put full effort into it. Currently I'm thinking the Kikoku(95)/STR katana or something would be best for said events. Especially since Kikoku gives 35atk, has OTD up without AM, and doesn't suffer from holding TP/using other WSes. It also has a lot better DPS than a 90 Kannagi.

Is this right or is Hi just that damn good?

If you like NIN enough to consider making Kikoku, I would totally go for it.

Now, I don't have experience with neither Kikoku nor Shun but on paper, as you pointed out already, Kikoku is a great weapon for DPS (without having to rely on the WS for an aftermath-like effect).

If Shun does dmg somewhere between Jin and Hi, then that would be good enough for me.

I, certainly, can't mathematically prove one to be better than the other but in most endgame situations (where things aren't EP-DC), you should highly benefit from the different WS-mod (for acc) and the additional att on the weapon at all times.
Additionally, you can still boost acc and att further with food (and meds, of course) and will always have more of them than you'd have with Hi.

TP set

Hi's damage in Voidwatch is pretty unstable on some high teirs
Shun with Kikoku/STR trial is pretty stable but it doesnt peak nearly as high.

Going to piggyback onto this thread before I make a new one, and in keeping with the trend:

So I have built a Kikoku, I like it and its DPS is loooovely, only L85 at the mo as got to the NM trials yesterday.

Now my question is the stats on Kikoku..... do they or do they not transfer to offhand now? I read a thread (but cant find it) where Nightfyre said that it does but I cant remember if it was said in jest or whether it was upcoming in update or what.

Reason I ask is im on flame geode stage of STR katana and sitting on 55 of them but before I dump them all into it I would like to know the above info.

Lil help please peeps, does it yay or does it nay (attack does NOT increase when Kikoku equipped offhand fyi :s

p.s. Always wanted one and dont regret building it one little bit :)

It did, but it was adjusted. It's back to being a bare weapon in the offhand.

IIRC there was an announcement, but I'm not good with finding these things. Again, IIRC, it was basically a case of "whoops, sorry we did something useful, we'll fix that right away".
