If directions actually affect it at all, I think the compass would be correct. It may seem arbitrary, but there actually is an in-game constellation map that corresponds to it perfectly.
Dark resistance boosts the power of DRK, particularly Souleater.

Mentor status has always been one of mine. We also used to remove our pearls in Dynamis-Xarcabard back in the day.
