No words for how my country just failed hard. But like I told my friends,I had predicted we'd be the only fail country to actually pass something like that because Ireland desperately wanna be "cool".

Its just like the "3 strikes with your ISP"law a few years ago that the entire EU turned down, except for Ireland.

Edit: Link didnt work atfirst

It seems nonsensical that they approved this but outside of Ireland it may be interesting to see what affect SOPA has on a country since so far we've only had what we believe would happen.

Even the fat lazy Americans got it together enough to stop our version of it (for the time being). Shame on you Irish types.

I can't believe it myself, that something like this would happen. I wonder what Ireland could do to undo this bill. Not a lot I would imagine, since we don't get that much of a say in politics any more nowadays anyway.

That's a real load, Ireland. Hopefully a backlash can get mustered and they can overturn it.

We have practically no power here. There's a random new tax here brought in that the ENTIRE country is against. Its a €100 "tax" on every single household simply to combat the debt of the country.Millions of people are protesting in every way/form but the governement are having none of it.I honestly cant see anything happening to get it reversed.

Like I said above, this country is run as a dictactorship. They just dont call it that.

US government sure sucks, but can safely say it isn't quite this bad yet. Sorry for the Irish.

I'm actually kind of excited about this. Hopefully it will (1) make the Irish stand up and take back their personal liberties and (2) effect the rest of the world in a similar fashion.

I informed Tsu of this awhile back...worst news in awhile yet for this country, honestly. I still think that there should have been more people to protest. I mean, there are 4,5 million people (off the top of my head) living in the republic...and only 80K people protested? (Of course, I'm not knocking the people that did go to protest - fair play to them! If I wasn't abroad, I would have gone to protest also.)
Since they have been so persistent about this bill, there really should have been more people protesting. A laidback "ara it'll work itself out surely" attitude simply isn't enough these days, especially since politicians will screw you over every chance they get. And really, without a vote in the Oireachtas? Ridiculous. The people need to stand up together more and form a unity, rather than small groups of protests here and there...
