As a large monster in Monstrosity what is highest level monster you can find to get exp from (can't enter Garlaige)? Is it even feasible to get a large monster to 99?

the correct way to level in Monstrosity is:
-turn PvP on
-enter Buburimu (30 cap)
-murder everything in sight on the east side of the zone (it's all EP)
-and level up from the Mons.: Total Monsters Vanquished / Spoils (X Crystal) / Conquest: Buburimu RoEs
-the Monstrosity Campaign doubles base kill exp. it's noticeable, but don't let it stop you from doing this when it's not happening.
-ideally, it's a month where the Ambuscade Primer objectives complete off any of Goblins, Dhalmels, Birds, or Crawlers (I know the latter two are feasible at least), but again, don't let that stop you

Broadly, scaling works in the player's favor at low levels due to the flat bonuses from Instincts - any BLM monster can oneshot trash with Stone II, DRK has Blizzard so it's a 2/3 shot, RDM has Thunder so same - and so you want to keep it at 30.

But, that said. What you actually asked, rather than what I'd recommend instead:
Uleguerand (90 cap if pvp) lets you go there on large mobs
Highest level mobs I know of there are the Scowlenko by Jormungand (the extra Ahriman added in 2011ish)
Level 86-87 so that should be EP almost all the way to 99, or voluntarily cap yourself at 90 (losing nothing, gaining substantially more equipped instincts from the capacity increase) and they'll give more exp/kill.

Any good reasons to be affiliated with any specific nation other than wanting Refresh from Sibyl Scarf as Windurstian or Regain from Republican Platinum Medal as Bastokan?

I got all the species to 99 in Bubu thanks to the capped level in that zone. If you want a higher level, Ule can be capped at 90. Edit: LightningHelix got there first and is correct.

If you craft, each city owns certains regions more often than others based on proximity and regional vendors are more available - though that's mostly for low-level crafting, i'm not sure there are even many gp items that rely on regional vendors anymore.

My home base is in Windy because I like the foresty vibe and the chill music better than the other options, and I know and like how the shortcut warps work (which, granted, is less important now due to the telepoints everywhere).

So, no, no good reasons I can think of.

One nation is clearly superior to the other two. The other two can barely be called "civilised" in fact.

With Bastok you gain access to best gil to conquest points per unit time exchange rate with the Rank 5 Musketeer's Gun.

It NPCs for 17.3k or there abouts, while being buyable when Bastok is in 1st place for 16k from rank 5.

Since Bastok generally rides down to 3rd place, you gain enhanced Conquest Point gains, particularly in Locus or Apex zones Bastok doesn't own, allowing you accrue a ton of conquest points between 1st place weeks, meaning you can make more gil sometimes without as much hassle, since Windurst and San d'Oria offer nothing with an equivalent exchange rate beyond the rank 3 2-handed weapons (which take 3x as long to NPC into gil).

Bastok Mines also boasts the only one of the three nations with a Survival Guide next to an Auction House and HP. A minor time saver that's being phased out soon, supposedly when they combine Survival Guides into HP warps, it's long been a great spot to leave as your HP, as it's also super close to Mog House aaaand a Chocobo Stable.

Bastok also has the most NPCs involved in multiple storylines and expansions. Volker and Zeid were on the team that killed Shadow Lord in canon. Cid is heavily involved in Chains of Promathia. Zeid is heavily involved in Rise of The Zilart. Naji and Ayame feature in some ToAU missions. Serpent General Zazarg is Bastokan, and is the Praefactus for the 4th Division in WoTG, being apart of The Battle of Jeuno. Degenhard is Bastokan and was once Maat's original sparring partner under Atori-tutori. Jeuno itself was started by Bastokers, and as such, Maat was originally from Bastok.

The jobs Warrior, Monk, Ninja, Samurai, Dark Knight, Scholar, and Dancer have their artifact quests mostly/partially rooted in Bastok. Norg has ties to Bastok.

Bastok isn't afraid to get down and dirty when it comes to warfare, even employing chemical weapons against the Sahagin. Bastok invented firearms in The Middle Lands. Cid is the first non-Armathrwn Society member to make heads or tails of airship technology, and produce airships.

Galkas are cool and Hume ladies are hot. Bastok also features several varieties of NPC only humes, including some more elegant refined hume lady NPCs in dresses and hats.

Bubbly Bernie is right outside in South Gustaberg. The Drachenfall in North Gustaberg features a lot in the pre-character selection scene, and is a very bad *** waterfall.

The WSNM quests, "The Weight of Your Limits" and "The Walls of Your Mind" are presented to you by Galkas from Bastok. The quest, "What Price, Loyalty" is from Bastok [S]. These are the coolest names for quests ever conceived.

Bastok is the only nation that has its own soldiers nodding to the idea that it's ok to hate your government, while San d'Oria and Windurst kneel before a (noble)monarch and a theocrat(she is a lame duck dictator, it turns out). Though it's mainly hate the senate, and begrudgingly respect the *** in charge(president).

Bastok's flag is blue, a water wheel surrounding a shield, surrounding the spires of industrial buildings. While the actual architecture and picture is quite different, the cave painting of Amaurot ablaze in FFXIV sort of calls back to Bastok's flag design. a taller building in the center of shorter ones.

Bastok has not forgotten about religion. Though Bastokers are not known for their piety, they do keep an alcove in their capitol directly in the center between the elevators of the Metalworks. It serves as Bastok's temple to The Goddess, though no organized religious ceremonies take place there.

Bastok has great natural defenses. Flanked by mountains and the sea, the only reasonable way to assault it is by coming through river from Palborough Mines or Korroloka Tunnel.

Bastok is Bestok!

Bastok is the worst by far. My wife made her character in Bastok and says its the best too, but you're all wrong. You guys just love the slavery aspects and free labor from galkas. I must reflect on the type of person I married since this seems to be a non issue with you people from Bastok.

She also calls me a traitor for making a hume in Sandy.

Had a question about synergy leveling. It has been a decade or more since I last touched it. Was reading BG page and unclear about picking max level and spamming. Is it make for that rank or max max? Any tips would be wonderful. I do have the model furnace when I do finish it to 80(still the cap) thanks.

You can attempt to synergize anything. So going straight for the highest possible works.

it'll overload more. So use one that isn't going to get you killed.

You can get free skillups thwacking it trying to prevent the explosions too.

Pick anything that has wind, spam the ***out of feed. thwack the ***out of it when it starts to explode. repeat for a month.

Found it best when I leveled it to stick with recipes 20~30 levels higher than my current skill for best gain rate.

Feed Fewell is the most reliable skill up part of it, and you have to feed an element that the synth needs.

Then for your skills you wanna take Feed Fewell and Operate Safety Leer to level 5 skill rank.

Synergy recipes with Earth are optimal in my experience, as you can block the intended debuff with Haste(2). Let'em blow up all over you, unless you feel like wasting Dark Fewell to get a feel for swapping between Safety Lever and Feeding.

Wrt synergy - I don't think it matters.

It takes an average number of interactions to skill up, more the higher the skill level. Doesn't matter if recipe is 10 or 30 levels above, as long as it is enough to give you skill ups.

The game is keeping feeding as long as possible without interruptions, meaning more interactions in an amount of time. For that you don't want explosions so you don't get a forced animation lock. Feed up to 25, safety lever, repeat.

Doesn't matter the element as long as it's required by synth. Doesn't matter if it gets capped.

Recipes 30-40 skills higher will still give you skill ups, but will blow up in ~3 feeds if you don't safety lever. That wastes time.

A recipe 10 above will let you feed ~5 times before safety lever.

You want it to explode. You can thwack twice as fast as feed and that also gives skill up.

You want to be anchored in place so there is zero penalty for the explosion with wind though

I've been doing my woodworking apron > smock feeding earth.

I got cuffs and do a thwack if its gonna blow (cost 5 wind.

Takes 10ish min. (with model funance) to burn through 99ish earth fewell. Typically get through 1-2 levels in this time frame (lower 30s now)

Not sure if that's helpful, but i've also noticed feeding required element for synth is most reliable skill ups, i've not hasted myself does the slow status effect actually effect something? Is there something I could be doing better?

slow makes it take a few seconds longer to get the next action in iirc, any level of haste buff overwrites it so can just be rdm and basically ignore it.

irt to synergy just work up the ladder spamming 1 material synths, like those early warp earrings, can carry you til about 80 i think where everything else was multiple item synths

I have never skilled up on:
-an unsuccessful Thwack
-feeding a fewell not required for synth

but if someone can confirm they have on unsuccessful Thwack, well, then yeah let it go boom

You can skill up on the repair and that's fast a.f. and you can spam it until you're out of Light Fewell.

Will it work. Yes.

Every 1 level difference is 1 impurity. So you'll explode every 2 feeds. Which is fine, just if you went lower, you'd explode less.

I did not know the model furnace doubles skill up gain. That's nifty.
