Archer all the way. I'm a huge fan of Star Trek but Enterprise has got to be my favorite. Plus Hoshi was super cute.

Hey, for once it wasn't the woman's fault!

captain beverly picard! lol jk

Janeway gets my vote. Cisco blah. OOO i get to be captain of a stationary space station! lolz

she had to inspire her crew in many ways. Motivating them cross the delta quadrant. Convincing them to destroy the Array. And convincing a borg to become human.

On a side note. Janeway has a lil more respect for star fleet property, unlike Picard who has a bad habbit of blowing up ships lol

Captain Archer from Enterprise. It's the only Star Trek I've seen where the bridge's crew having to do most everything makes sense. I'm not a big trekkie, so I don't really ascribe to knowing all about their silly culture with no money and what not, but Enterprise seemed the most real to me.

TNG definitely has the best acting, and probably the best storylines and episodes.

The original has little appeal to me, other than it being the original. I like to view originals/firsts merely to see where all the descendants take their liberties and what not.

Never seen DS9 or Voyager.

Huh, that last video just raised a point with me. The Borg adapt to all sorts of energy weapons, but I would seriously say 'Adapt this!' and see how they handle supersonic metal.

Hell, put half the energy their various phasers seem to have into a projectile accelerator and you'd have a decent hypersonic weapon, and it'd only need to shoot projectiles weighting a few milligrams to do a ton of damage.

Then again, high velocity projectiles on a spaceship... Maybe there is a reason they stick to phasers.

Wesley Crusher.

D'awww, Wesley is such a wee little squirt.

Picard: "Shut, up Wesley!"

*random orders*

Dr. Crusher: " 'Shut up, Wesley?' "

*Wesley tries to interject*

Dr. Crusher: "Shut up Wesley!"

Energy shields in any universe (halo, star trek etc) repel matter extremely easily it's the repelling actual focused energy that can overwhelm them more effectively.

Picture throwing rocks at a wall of ice, eventually yeah they'd do dmg or you'd throw hard enough to cause dmg but then imagine throwing actual focused heat at the wall. even a tiny bit would do much more dmg than a large rock
borg + RPG = dead borg. There is no adapting to that, it's not a simple explosive, it's a metal needle. If borg forcefields can be penetrated by anything, then an RPG could do it.

Even borg shields would obey the laws of physics, the smaller a projectile is, the more difficult it would be to prevent a breach of said field. There's also a lot of force behind an RPG, so you have a very small diameter projectile, with considerable driving force..

It's still terms of antiquated thinking though Slip. you can't change something into smaller pieces than atoms so whatever the matter is, it has to be composed of them. So energy is going to be more reliable to stop it

"but this item is composed of 100 atoms together instead of 100000. it's a metal needle" they would just shrug it off honestly
Find me a quote where it shows borg force fields operate in such a way.. I'm not a huge trekkie, so I may of missed it in TNG or something.

Also, I'd like to refer you back to when chainmail was the thing and then arrows became a major armament.. It pushed it's way through, it didn't need an opening that fit it's size, it created one.

i just gadda say it, since this is the best thread to do so...i love star trek in nearly all its forms. don't really like TOS but would watch it if i had to, or if theres a specific episode that seemed interesting.

grew up on TNG and picard and data are the shizz.

loved the long assed story arc's of DS9. liked it enough that when i was still on ffxi i named a ls of mine Terok Nor.

VOY is my favorite though. i lurve seven of nine.

some of the ENT episodes are interesting but i haven't gotten around to watching them all.

like mainly the TNG-crewed movies, not the TOS plot ones, and of course i like the newer Star Trek movie.

with all that said...i wanna cry cuz the "new" spock is gay irl.

Proof that bullets are effective against Borg Shields. Fast forward to 1:55.

The fact that borg shields will protect them from a phaser, but you can still punch one in the face should be proof enough that they are energy shields only, not kinetic shield. It should also be noted though that borg come equiped with Exo-Plating, which could, i suppose, give some form of resistence to a projectile weapon. Also, no reason they couldn't adapt there shields to be a kinetic shield.

Semi related, a legit star fleet projectile weapon was introduced in DS9.

In a techincal view Archer's enterprise was better equipped for fighting the borg since it was originally supposed to be armed with railguns and rockets which were replaced with early phasers after a little while into the series. If tommy guns worked so well on borg shields then railguns would tear a cube apart. Ignoring the fact a single shot from a cube would blow the ship to smihterines.

Hoshi hail them
