Death/Life in jail is a torn issue for me. If the person is sentanced to the death penalty, chances are they DESERVE to live in a 8x8 cell for the rest of their expanded life in solitude. But on the other hand, it's a big *** waste of taxpayer money...so whatever. Off 'em.
no, if you're sentenced to death, you will have 48 hours left. You'll get a decent steak dinner, a hooker with full-blown Aids, and a warm beer. After that, you're ***. You won't get the chair, you'll stand in front of a squad of 6 men, all armed with machetes dipped in acid, and that is how it ends.

I can somewhat understand this, but for minor crimes only. Doing petty stuff to get locked away for awhile is one thing, but when they go on some wild killing spree and then play the "woe-is-me, I've got nothing left" card...I say put 'em on a firing range and have at it.

I agree. I mean minor things like robbery and whatnot. You take a life, then expect the same as punishment.

It's ideas like that that get us into this mess. Besides whats really all that bad about murdering someone to save others?
Ninja edit: Besides if it makes you feel better you can look at it like government assisted suicide. We say if you go out killing people we kill you and you go out in do it clearly you want to die. Like those people that force cops to shot them

I'm mixed on that one. Yes, murder by definition is certainly wrong, but I also feel that there are some crimes where sitting in a jail cell just isn't going to cut it. Or where a person is simply beyond rehabilitation.
What do we do in those situations? Let the person free on a second, third, fourth, 20th chance and continue to hope for the best with continued assistance, despite the constant failed attempts?

So I think life is important, and there are a lot of other people- including men- that believe the same thing, too.
I believe the punishment should fit the crime.
If not the death penalty, then some seriously painful, prolonged, and permanent-handicap inflicting torture. Then leave you in a cell to rot.

Someone kills your family slowly and brutally in front of you, forcing you to watch them die and listen to their screams of agony. Still believe in second chances?
I don't think people should be killed, but if some person is running around killing like 2+ people, I think that said person needs to be taken off of the face of the earth.

The world is a mess because of this refusal to deal with the problems. They aint just gonna go away on there own.

The truth of the matter is both opinions are needed depending on circumstance. If we all felt one way about this subject it would be messed up regardless of whether or not you believe in the death penalty or you believe in second chances. ^^

I don't think all of us are as heartless as we are sounding here. Of course people believe in second chances, and I'm sure we can all agree that life is precious in any form.
On the other hand; I think we are all of the same mind that second chances aren't going to work for everyone. Can some change? Of course. Do they? Not often.

Idc what the situation 99% of the time I'm gonna place the good of the many over the 1. I'm not gonna let someone kill hundreds just cause I'm too much of a coward to stop them. And even if I was I'd still let someone else stop them
