Parenting
I looked at the rest of the pics from her shoot...and she easily had at least 2 or 3 that they probably would have approved with no issues.

Hmm im not a stickler for dress codes. i say if it covers them it works. so ill put my opinion on that photo. the dress is fine. there is nothing wrong with that (or skirt i should say) and that shirt is a little short. but its not exposing anything. not like those super short shorts out there.. xD idk i guess my school was just a little different. That wasn't even a shirt...it was a shawl. She easily could have chosen another picture out of the set that was more appropriate...they act like there wasn't one. thats what its called. still in my opinion shawl > tube top. lol his only mistake was not recording her reaction and sharing it as well
maybe even a slight dose of chris browning her "Chris Browning" her would have been disgusting. There's no excuse for punching, biting, and choking someone unless they are trying to kill, rape, or kidnap you. Not funny in the slightest.
I suppose "Browning Hi Power" > "Chris Browning"? ^_-
But I think the viral nature of the video is that he did get to do such a dramatic "Dirty Harry" cathartic (and mass-appealing) resolution to the parenting dilemma. If he had simply grounded her in the video (without the use of the firearm at all) or said he would sell the laptop off on ebay or something, I wouldn't think the video would have gotten quite so many views even if the message and punishment were effectively the same. :) But speaking of which, I am envious. If I were a parent of a teen, and if she had done something like this (over time), and if I were inclined to have the same sort of resolution for demonstrated punishment (that's a whole lot of "if's")--had I fired off eight rounds into the laptop on my property, it would be all over the local evening news and would have police showing up within minutes. :p Just my opinion on whether or not spanking her would have been better than a viral video--
I highly, highly doubt that the father knew the video would go viral. I doubt that's what he meant to have happen. He meant to embarrass her in front of her friends and get his side of the story out to her friends. And she deserved that, because she tried to humiliate him by lying and was very disrespectful about it. She's sixteen years old, so at that point I don't really think spankings work well anymore. I don't have children, so I don't know what I would do in his place. But I should think that there's an age where spanking really just isn't the way to do things anymore. For me, anyhow. There comes a time when you are going to have to get more creative with your punishments in order to let your children learn the life lessons that need to be learned. Spankings are for young children, not teens. Since the misbehaving was done on the laptop, taking the laptop away was a good choice (in my opinion.) Since it had happened before and she'd had the laptop taken away for three~ish months before, the punishment needed to be more serious the second time around. Permanently destroying or selling the laptop was acceptable then. As for taking the term "Chris Browning" as meaning to choke, punch, and bite, that one seems obvious to me unless I'm getting whooshed here. For it to only mean a spanking, the term spanking is more clear, easier and quicker to type, and easier and quicker to say. Why intentionally complicate something so simple, particularly by replacing it with something so offensive? That makes no sense. And as for meaning dance, act, or entertain, that seems (to me) just plain silly because it makes no sense in this context whatsoever. Aren't context clues taught in basic childhood English classes anymore? Teachers deliberately putting a word in a paragraph or sentence that the child should not yet know, and making them figure out what it means by context clues in the surrounding text? This is a very basic skill. >.> Given the context of this entire conversation, to assume he meant dancing in front of the girl, or acting in front of her, or entertaining her, is just incredibly silly. obviously someone isnt going to mean the child should have been choked or any of that assumed ***taken from the term, and if that was what it was intended to mean, then it was obviously a troll comment not to be taken seriously.
on topic though, she prolly did deserve some kind of punishment. taking the laptop away was prolly more than enough, giving it away to a poor straight A kid is something that comes to mind as far as a better idea goes. but to not only take it away, but to make a video about it and post it online imo will cause allot more psychological damage(now shes gonna find undesirables!) to the child vs most of the other alternatives for discipline such as a minor chris browning, or even simply just taking the laptop away. at the end of the day though, hes the parent, thats his kid, its his choice to punish her how ever he pleases w/o abuse being a factor. "Chris Browning" is such a disgusting thing to say. I don't get it at all. The parent has every right to do what he or she may want...but the making up bed part...um what.
