Best Buy Going Out Of Buisness?

Err every best buy I have ventured into has been great. Wonderful service, heck even too much! Sometimes I get asked by 3-4 different people if I need help. I know what I want most of the times so if they try and sell something else, I ask questions and argue my item vs. theirs and if they can beat me then I guess their item is better.

As for prices, generally yes more expensive. No where near as high as some of you claim. I would say only a small % mark up (call it a convenience fee if you want) for example I bought a cpu from newegg for $119.99 for a new build of mine, unlucky woman of mine managed to fry hers while boasting how she hadn't needed one in quite some time (the computer was nearly a decade old and I warned her to clean it out cause that dust was building!) went to best buy got the same processor (already had other parts for her) for $124.99, not bad. Same with the cables, I don't know what your looking for but they have cheap cables with the expensive ones, just takes a little time to find as they don't display them as well.

Yea dood I agree with that article 100% I cant tell you how many times i've left best busy simply because it was my "last resort" and each time vowing i'll never return. The store has done nothing but fail me at every turn to be satisfying. When shopping for a quick fix with computer parts it never ends in an agreeable manner and the one time i broke down and brought my computer in to the "Geek Squad" i left with more problems then I came with and they had the audacity to charge me over $300 to swap out a less then $30 part. Their sales persons are a-kin to cheesy car dealers minus the cowboy boots and slick-backed hair.

P.s. The christmas gift I ordered for my mother the day after thanksgiving is STILL on back order how many weeks AFTER christmas?! Seriously?! And on top of that if it weren't for this article mentioning it, I probably would have forgotten because best buy NEVER sent me an email or ANY kind of notification that the order was canceled and put on back order!

I realize it's not a computer parts store, although they sell them, and as I said, the only store in my entire town that sells components..

I pretty much exclusively buy all my PC needs from Newegg..

I actually bought a nice chair from Best Buy a number of years ago. Really nice swivel computer chair for $99. Of course a week later the same chair was on sale at Staples for $50, lol.

I go to Goodwill for cheap furniture hehe, got a rather nice sturdy desk chair with adjustable back and seat tilt for $20. Leather too! Has a little hole in the back but I don't care.

Not to be too nitpicky but...


Technically when you go out to any chain to buy a pre-made computer you get a bunch of ***advertisers love to slap on computers, its usually how they get the prices slashed- by selling advertising space on a new machine. Last I checked you buy from any chain you get these, not partial to best buy.


They are non-commissioned, thus why you tend to get more inexperienced people than anything else, as well as idiots who think their way of keeping a job is to harass a person into buying whatever.



Personally, I worked at a BBY for a couple years while I went to college at the same time since it typically was lower stress, and I always took the direct-non-*** approach to things. If someone was overspending, I stop them right there and point it out. They're giving it to their destructive child for school? Point out the cheaper or more effective accidentals so they can get it swapped out when it 'accidently' falls down some stairs. Getting an overpriced cable? Stopped them, grabbed the cheaper 'oh crap i grabbed the wrong cable and need to return it' ones, show them it worked, and mark the price to something more reasonable.

However, as it is as a model the last couple years, imo it been absolute ***and more walmarty than ever, and I won't be sorry to see it go. I still make minor purchases there yes, and prefer them for my cell phone with service plans since I get more flexibility on that... However, they really been ***, imo, last few years overall.

I bought many things over the years from best buy.

In my experience they have some cute women there, good customer service, crappy geek squad, and way over priced.

I took my brand new computer there cause I was getting an error. I know it was a settings issue, I was messing around with them! LOL

They formatted my hard drive without telling me they would. I was pissed! I had a few games installed including ffxi on it. I think a few pictures too.

I go to gamestop for my games. They are not without fail though. I order chains of promathia back in the day 1 month before it came out. It took 2 weeks on backorder after it was released and went live before I got it! Pissed!

Generally, I like gamestop.

Radio shack sucks. I know it wasn't mentioned but they failed to deliver and they used to be decent back in the day. Now most of the stuff they sell is old technology. too bad.
