I had some ideas and I can actually sprite say I had my own char.

Not a fan of 2D fighting games or any fighting games for that matter. I would much rather see this as a game like FF Tactics or Shining Force with a story so it could be classified as an RPG. Now that would be awesome.
EDIT: I'd say more like Shining Force II where you move around on the map, but when you perform an action it would switch to a screen where you could see the action better.

could prolly do both actualy. plus could get more people in on makeing mobs and such if did a tactics based along with the fighting

You could always make a community based rpg game on RMXP or RMVX
why not using the original characters sounds instead all those japanese dialogue?
