I need some help.

I asked for a cheap/decentish pair of headphones w/ mic for christmas. i ended up with 2 diff pairs somehow >.>; was told i can take one back if i wanted. i would use them for both ps3 and on pc, for general use and talking as well.

they are:

1)Sony PS3 wireless Stereo headset ($99)
2) Turtle beach PX21 ($60)

so my question to you is this. which should i keep? or do you recommend a different pair altogether i could get. (looking for really good bass quality)

i'm sitting here headphone less atm because i don't know which pair to open :/ lol.

thanks for the feedback, but could you please elaborate on the "suck" of them? i remember my dad had a pair of the xbox versions and they sounded decent. i do know firsthand they are shitty quality and break easy though, so i am hesistant to open the package :|.

i actually tried the ps3 wireless headset (friend has them)

they sound really great and they are bluetooth wireless. pretty awesome for what you get. the problem? they lack a decent amount of bass. theres some bass in there but its not enough to satisfy the $99 pricetag imo. are they good enough? sure. but i kind of think i could do better with that much money.

hence asking you guys lol. more suggestions please! off tomorrow, won't mind making trip to the store and getting something decent.

While I don't have experience with the gamer style turtle beach headphones myself, I have been randomly lurking in tinychat for the last few weeks and I have seen about 5 people with brand new sets have them fritz out and have problems within weeks of buying them. I think it should be noted though that these people also wrap their headphone cables around the headset when not using them and I saw a couple times people tossing them around, so it might be related to how you care for them. Then again with a hefty price tag, there should be some level of durability.

Stay away from anything official for the PS3,they're absolutely diabolical.

Logitech have a great usb pair for the ps3 (also works on pc) but I cant remember the model, they're around 60-80 euro here so idk in the US.

There's also a couple of good Creative pair of gaming headsets,so try check them out.

Overall I'd vote for logitech > creative > nothing

I have 2 sets of the 40$ Plantronics from Best Buy. I have 1 at the office and 1 at home. I have found them to have good audio and super good durability... ppl at my office share them with me (shared pc) and they yank on the wires n such to unplug them all the time. My home set is well into 2 years with no issues. The mic is a durable flip up boom and can take the constant movement. The padding around the ears is still soft and pliable with no rips or tears. fwiw Plantronics is the maker of our pro headsets in our call center.

Yeah, I have a pair of QC15s(which are insane for noise cancellation), but I figured since he wanted a pair of "cheap/decentish pair of headphones w/ mic" that this wouldn't be a bad choice.

He said he wanted good Bass quality and Bose is always pretty serious about that. Also, it's pretty much the exact same price as both of his current headphones combined, so he doesn't have to pay anything out of pocket.

Sennheiser or gtfo. Especially if you plan on using them for anything besides gaming as well. I would imagine they make some sets that cater towards gamers.

Here you go, these seem to be within the right kind of price range too.

i really really like these.... D:

i used to own a pair of triports 5+ years ago, absolutely loved them. bass wasn't heavy but it was definately there. sadly they broke by someone that frequents these forums. (hint: he rides a bike) this would work pretty nice cause i have an iphone as well, and i could take these with me pretty much anywhere and make use out of them.

so i'll prob look into getting these but i'm still exploring my options, has anyone heard of trittons? people have good reviews on them online, also i found a pair of sony cans that got great reviews also.

Sony extra bass cans.

Lol more like they died of their natural causes in my possession because they were already in horrible, wire exposed condition when you lent them to me!

I use pc161 and they sound amazing but the bass is clearly lacking.
low/mids are super clear but bass isn't as powerful as some may like but for me they sound the best so far.

the sound quality of the turtle beach are decent, not as good as my sennheiser pc161 though. cheaply built, everyone that I know who had one, no longer has them because they broke from just normal everyday use.
