4.5% extra DA for the cost of 15 evasion and accuracy?
I personally wouldn't do that.

I personally wouldn't do that. 4% extra DA...
also lol acc lol eva exenterator says hi You would be pretty silly if you think 15 acc (lol) and 15 eva somehow are better than the boost to our best offensive ability.
It disables waltz, that's my problem.
but allow me to clarify
1.) 15 accuracy We're already just behind Relic 2-handers, DRGs, and RNGs as far as the most (weapon-only) accurate jobs in the game go, and DNC TP sets generally contain +40ish DEX (or more) to top that off. If you're really having ACC issues against something (an issue in VW *only*) there are minor gearset adjustments which can address it (I've covered this). Closed Position isn't even something you can rely on in VW, ***spins. Yeah, you can reposition yourself while it's frozen, but it's not always frozen and you can pretty much get capped accuracy without CP anyhow. Additionally, you should be subbing nothing but WAR in VW, and that gives you access to Aggressor. Nothing should be living much longer than the duration of Aggressor. 2.) 15 Evasion I'm not sure what you're fighting that you can't easily cap evasion in a hybrid evasion set with capped haste. Most things, you should be pretty much capping evasion anyhow. You won't cap evasion vs. DCs in dynamis in a general TP set, but I get 70% evasion vs. them and that's in my Saber Dance set, which has 15 less evasion than my general TP set. I don't really see any reason TO keep Closed Position. Asura.Vrytreya said: » It disables waltz, that's my problem. You don't always need waltzes. When you don't, you should be running Saber Dance. I'm not going to have this discussion. Acc and eva are doing very little on the primary content that DNC is used for. Saber dance provides a massive damage increase, and you often won't need to use waltzes at all.

I don't do VW with DNC I think you know where our opinion differs. Well then what the heck are you doing with your DNC? AFKing?
Sisyphus, Upas-Kamuy, and stuff that I can kill faster with berserk on.
...so Abyssea.
I'll refer you back to the first line on the first post of the first page. I wouldn't convince you to believe what I do is still matter for general public. But for me, in practice, they are the only relevant things I can do better on DNC than my 3 other jobs. I still personally wouldn't do that. Maybe you missed that word earlier.
Quote: Initially, I had called this section "Dancer Playstyles," but my ire toward the term playstyle has grown increasingly vitriolic in these past few months. Too often do people dismiss constructive criticism with, "well, it's just my playstyle. To a degree, yes, we are free to make choices that render some aspect of our performance sub-optimal, and indeed, it's often necessary to do so. That said, playstyle is not a crutch on which to lean to avoid improvement and understanding the strengths and weaknesses of the job. Anyway, as much as I hate discussing Abyssea: 1.) You're capping accuracy 2.) You're capping evasion So closed position is doing exactly nothing for you in Abyssea, either. (In fact, it's probably doing less for you there than it's doing elsewhere). If I am not mistaken throwing out Exenterator and Presto+Quickstep would make up for the loss of Closed Position yes? That is assuming you really feel like you need it *that* badly.
Exenterator overcompensates for missing Closed Position 5/5, but doesn't quite compensate for losing both Closed Position 5/5 and Charis Tights +2 .
Quickstep LV2 reduces the enemy's evasion by 3 less than Closed Position 5/5 would give you in accuracy. Close-a-freakin-nuff especially considering I haven't run into a situation where I needed it that bad. It's more of a well that's a nice bonus, and quickstep I only use when people I'm with are getting skillups lol.
Also if I am with a thief we like to do Exenterator > PK > Evis. Stats down all over the place and a Darkness skillchain to boot, yummy.
If I'm doing dynamis duo with another DNC friend, we tend to pick WS based on whatever will skillchain with the last WS that was used. It may not necessarily be optimal, but it is fun.
I wish there were fodder mobs with like, 20K HP, just for skillchain fun.
Exenterator --> Rudra's Storm (Distortion) --> Evisceration (Darkness) ---> Rudra's Storm (Darkness) Would be a pretty hilarious way for two Dancers to have some skillchain fun in Dynamis. I have been in exactly one situation where I partied with someone else who really knew how the skillchain system worked and we demolished crap. But yeah, that would be cool.
I think I'm using Evisceration -> Exenterator over Rudra's -> Evisceration now. Rudra is only good @ 300TP and CF anyways... set bonus + aftermath = noms.
At least in Dynamis, CF Rudra's becomes a lot more viable when you have multiple enemies attacking you, and thus won't waste any aftermath due to travelling.
Also, Darkness skillchains can receive a multiplier from the double dark weather in Dyanmis! It makes for some interesting numbers! Even at 100TP, CF Rudra's should be "about even" with Exenterator.
Not worth blowing the 5 FMs for 100 TP tho, I ritually try and make every WS I do a SC. Via WF or RF.
There is a lot acronyms used in describing DNC stuff! I use CF Rudra's when I am JA proccing stuff and don't want to burn Wild Flourish. Otherwise Wild -> Exenterator does the same / better damage for a similar (sometimes more, sometimes less) number of finishing moves and is much more reliable.
I guess it also depends how close the monster is to death. Building Flourish in VW, now Wild Flourish in Dynamis.
I feel so dirty. I agree with Sylow that using 300TP Rudra with multiple mobs on your is cupcakes. I loathe wasting aftermath. It's like really bad itchies.
Edit: I love BF! :o (With PK!) By the way, I found a place where we don't cap accuracy naturally in Dynamis: DC Nightmare Ravens (Buburimu).
In a regular TP set, they check DC- (Low Defense) and it usually takes presto + quickstep to make them check Low Evasion. I'm not sure why they're so evasive. I've solved the problem though: fighting something else. |
