The DNC sheets (last time I checked) give both sets Fencer if the first set is single-wielding, and neither set Fencer if the first set is Dual Wielding.

I stopped using the second set a while back, not sure if it has been fixed since.

I think it was when Byrth and I were doing spreadsheet convergence olympics

I fixed that when you last mentioned it.

fencer is certainly on, it just isn't a large boost. 5% crit rate and 20 tp bonus.

Edit: as another option, Pugiunculus does well offhanded too, with the low delay and TA

Just got the Aphotic Kukri (Rank 2, path A), but now I'm torn what to off-hand. I assume Aluh is a no-no, due to 201 delay? What about my STR Thokcha? I'd love to have the Wildskeeper dagger as well, but with barely nobody doing Reives at the moment, let alone Wildskeeper ones, I don't see it as atainable.

STR Thokcha seems like the best of the 3 daggers you mentioned to off-hand for Aphotic Kukri.
Thanks! I guess Lesilonu would still be an even better option, but never done Skirmish and I don't know of many people doing it (most people are completely focused on farming plasm).

Also, I have another question. I'll be getting the Asperity Necklace but I'm wondering, does it beat out Charis Necklace? I assume definitely, in a buffed situation, but what about without buffs?

Sorry for always asking so much @_@ I've just never been good at gauging small differences in melee sets!

Charis Necklace would be the first thing to drop as you pass the delay cap, and Asperity would be second only to Rancor Collar (and only by a small amount), but yeah, if you're not delay capped, Charis still easily beats it.

I have a Leisilonu with DMG+10 STR+2... Has anyone seen actual evidence that you can get crit hit rate +5% as reported on the JP wiki?

Just wanted to throw this out here. DNC/RUN is actually pretty impressive. I was doing the 2nd to last WotG fight where you're fighting 4 people. I figured since there are AoE's and I'll be having Fan Dance up that shadows and sambas wont matter. Pflug made me resist the amnesia entirely and even let a couple cures get through paralyze. Vallation really cut down the banishga damage. 2 Runes up did an additional 20-35 damage per swing (which is a lot on DNC). Protect/Shell/Flash/Regen II/Blink/Auto-Regen/Inquartata/Tenacity/MDB/Swordplay were pretty handy as well. I don't recall my Lunge damage unfortunately (took a couple hits and needed to focus on heals) but it is free damage and that's nice.

I'd say overall it's a great subjob for solo situations against multiple mobs, aoe mobs and status/magic heavy mobs. To be honest I'd say it's a pretty good sub for any time in Fan Dance. Runes add considerable damage in this mode when you'll probably be spending most TP on waltz instead of weaponskills. RDM also makes a good Fan Dance sub though with enspells, haste and phalanx for fights where you don't need to worry about magic damage/enfeebles but still faced with aoes/accurate mobs.

Dancer body gear

Since I have no way getting Kheper Jacket given it doesn't look like anyone does Legion anymore on Bismarck unless you're in a big LS, and no way on getting Tessera Saio given I came back to the game 2 years too late and everyone's finished with Voidwatch on my server and again need to be in a big event LS to do them, what are my options?

I'm already starting to collect and farm Umbrage plans for Skadi+1 gear, and will probably upgrade head first then body.

Besides Skadi+1, Manibozho Jerkin looks like a good option and I have it on Rank 1, Type C (Evasion) at the moment. Someone suggested it's alright for R.Atk. for the DEX for Extenerator.

The last option I can find is the level 99 Nyzul armor, Thaumus Coat, but I don't know anyone that's interested in doing those.

So, I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place, literally. I came back to the game over three weeks ago, but everyone has moved onto Delve equipment. And, everyone has this Legion and Voidwatch gear they've acquired in the two years I wasn't playing FFXI. And, I refuse to go into a big event LS given a) I'm paranoid now of LS drama and LS leader favoritism, and b) hard to devote a good amount of time to the game if I have chemotherapy every 3 weeks and doctor appointments in-between.

Suggestions?

What? Kheper Body isn't even good.

You want AGI for Exenterator, not DEX. In the long run (Rank 13-15?) Maniborzo Jerkin will be the best. Until then, Thura body is great.

Thaumas body is good for a delay capped build, but otherwise it's still AF3+2 body.

I think you're overemphasizing the difficulty of these events. You need something like one shout event, a few hours playtime, and a little luck to get the near-best gear for DNC in the body slot at the moment.

Ok, what are we missing?

Is there something wrong with dual wielding Tzustes Knife +1 besides the cost? Even dual wielding the NQ looks like it ranks high (and only 100k each).

Yes, the new weapons are better, but until we can get a Plasm weapon, is it not viable? On spreadsheet we're showing the NQ is still better than wind Thokcha, and only slightly behind the fire Thokcha.

[Weaponskill is Exenterator]

Looking to do STR path on my Maniborzho gear for RUN. This also good for DNC or would it demand DEX gear for Evis or AGI for Exen?

Quick TP set question. This is what I use currently:

ItemSet 288269

(I know I know make a ToM yadayada and spam Rani)

Should I replace belt and head with windbuffet belt and chocaliztli mask? I'm not good with the math behind it and the spreadsheet is like reading Gallifreyan so I'm not sure if the QA/TA would make up for the DW. Note I do everything solo on DNC unfortunately so no buffs.

I just got the mask and want to try to incorporate it outside of Exenterator. I plan on using it for my single wield set should I ever need to use it with the whole SW>DW debate when using such a high dmg dagger. Was there a verdict in here that I overlooked?

Any advice would be a help thanks :)

@Raelia: Str path is perfectly fine for dnc.

@Dasanuffadat: Windbuffet + Chocaliztli is a poor choice compared to Thurandaut + Twilight unless you're getting full haste buffs, pushing you past the delay cap.

Also, I think it worked out that single wielding will lose to dual wielding unless you're getting +4 or +5 Marches (along with Haste and Haste Samba), since that can still speed up a single-wield setup, but a dual-wield will have already gone past the haste cap. Even then, I can't guarantee that other gear changes wouldn't put dual-wielding ahead again.

A question:

I got my hands on an Aphotic Kukri (finally). At the moment I'm offhanding an Aluh. Would Twilight be better for it though due to the lower delay?

Thank you. ^^ I'm guessing that a STR Thokcha would be better again? I'm just not sure if I have the patience/insane amount of funds for one.

Sorry for late bump on this, but what about the Acid bolt? Said to typically overwrite defense boost. Has anyone tried it on the Turtle T5 in Morimar?

Fenrir.Sylow said: »
Good to know!

Either way, my example above is using the wrong value!
Current maximum defense down we can achieve:

Light Shot Dia III (-52/256) + Angon (-64/256) + Indi-Frailty (-32/256) + Box Step 5 (-33/256)

Leaving the enemy with just 75/256 of their defense (almost 70% reduction). This is the equivalent of 3.41x your attack. So versus a 1000 defense enemy, you'd cap out with 659 attack, lol.

This is assuming defense down doesn't have a floor, but it doesn't seem to at least for enemies attacking us. (Aegis Schism sup) There's probably no need to cap defense down due to the ratio cap (unlike the need to cap haste).

Farming? Yes very possible. Go DNC/THF for best coin results (even in dreamworld). THF/DNC will get some faster kills and more coins if you have it though. Not sure about zone wins though.

Easy to solo with practice and good evasion gear and use curry. Get reraise from the field of valor book nearby before you enter and bring a reraise earring too.

TE can sometimes hit pretty hard and links are bad news if its the TE in the DC area. Being patient goes a long way when doing the time stones.

I'd recommend remembering to No foot rise right when you enter and reverse flourish it so you have some tp stored up for haste samba+ws'ing your 1st TE.
TE's go down alot easier and safer if you already have tp stored with finishing moves for a self-sc.

Saving the hardest TE last is a good idea, since you'll at least be able to red stagger any links if you mess up the pull.

SAM, THF, and NIN are generally the best subjobs for anything DNC will be doing currently (there isn't much DNC can do currently).

PUP actually makes a decent solo subjob as well, but if you're not used to playing PUP in the first place it will probably drive you insane.

As for Acid Bolts, Adamantoise Harden Shell appears to be at the highest priority level and nothing overwrites it except for Tomahawk for some bizarre reason (Tomahawk isn't defense down).
