man, i don't know

If DNC wasn't a solo job before it REALLY is now, considering it's one of the only jobs out there that actually CAN solo in Adoulin, and mob accuracy is not trivial. I've got to go with evasion on this one.

I'll likely do Type A for Mani pants. I'll probably either hoard Airlixirs or put them into those pants. I'll keep offhanding an AGI Thokcha when I need more evasion.

I see the Mani set like this:

Hat - Good evasion hybrid piece with Path C augments

Body - Loses to Thura on Exenterator without a ton of Attack/STR from augments?

Hands - Not savable.

Legs - Excellent for Pyrrhic Kleos and Evisceration.

Feet - With a lot of augments, maybe our best TP feet?

I'm kind of curious about a new dual-wield TP set with the new gear and weapons

I just got Thaumas Coat from NNI last night, is there a good way to utilize it on DNC or should I stick with Charis Casaque +2?

What do I do with all the excess haste? I don't have any Salvage v2 gears, but I have solid Empyrean set (barring my lack of Epona's Ring):

Swap Charis +2 to Thaumas body when you have double marches from a bard with at least March+3. You could also swap:
Etoile Tights +2 to Thaumas Kecks (31% Haste)
Twilight Belt for Windbuffet Belt (24% Haste)
Suppa for Ghillie +1
Charis Necklace for Rancor Necklace
Auric for any level 90+ dagger

So the idea being that marches will get you to the delay reduction cap making excees Dual Wield and Haste unnecessary? As a general rule with double marches how much DW and Haste is enough? I saw talk on a previous page of 18% haste?

Type B only seems to be useful if you want to add accuracy in where you need it. For the Manibozho Brais, I would probably do Type B for them.

The augments he listed do not apply to the Manibozho equipment.
There is no Accuracy Path.

If you're getting 2x +3 marches with Haste Samba and only the base 30% DW, you need 225/1024 gear haste to cap delay. (22%-23%)
If you're getting 2x +4 marches with Haste Samba and only the base 30% DW, you need 193/1024 gear haste to cap delay. (19%-20%)

If you were using the AF3 body in those conditions (40% total DW), you'd need:
+3 marches: 176/1024 gear haste (17%-18%)
+4 marches: 144/1024 gear haste (14%-15%)

Note that the last 2/1024 or so when capping haste is about a 1% increase. You can probably get better than a 1% increase via other stats rather than forcing that final fraction, but at the same time your best gear options may have more haste than you know what to do with anyway, so it could be a moot point.

The 18% you saw referenced was probably for +3 marches when using AF3 body. Dropping the AF3 body and adding 4% haste (ie: Thaumas) still leaves you basically capped if your other gear was already configured for that.

Edit: Also note that if you have to drop Haste Samba for some reason, you need to reach about 45% DW (ie: AF3 body + Suppa or Thurandaut head) before haste needed to cap starts dropping below 25%.

If you DON'T have marches I think it's still better to dual wield

How about Aphotic Kukri + Centovente (+100tp bonus) offhanded for those of us without pocket bards and sometimes haste from a whm?
An extra 100tp bonus when self SC'ing with that new dagger just seems too good to pass up.

No, because we only have one WS that benefits from >100 TP at all with that combination, and it doesn't benefit much.

I don't think that dagger's tp bonus works in the off hand but I could be mistaken. I swear I remember something about either it or martial knife not working off handed.

yes it does, i cleave abyssea on my dancer all the time with it offhanded with a wsd +10% damage in the mainhand.
Its martial knife that doesnt work offhand.

Byrth highlights an important problem I'm facing right now:

1.) The day before the last update, I had a bunch of free time at work because I was running simulations that took forever (but no internet access due to an outage) so I had written about 8 pages of information worth of stuff to add to the front page. Immediately following the update, FFXI flipped upside down on its head and I don't feel like going back through and revising everything I wrote to be relevant to post-Delve FFXI. It's a shame too because I was really pleased with how I expressed everything.

2.) We only realistically have one post-Delve weapon, which wrecks our DPS in comparison to 2-handed jobs and H2H jobs.

3.) Dancer might be functional in Delve with two new weapons, but we don't reasonably have access to that at this point in time. This will hopefully change in a month, through whatever means.

4.) To put 2+3 in perspective, my PUP is a better choice than my DNC on virtually all content at this point in time. (PUP may have been the overall winner of the 4/30 update to be perfectly honest - its accuracy "issues" vanish when everyone starts using Sushi and Madrigals anyhow and Delve enemies have average - not extremely high- defense - it gained access to extremely powerful weapons and automatons experienced a huge boost).

5.) I really don't know what to say about DNC anymore because with the introduction of Delve, there is very little reason to do any other content outside of Delve.

6.) DNC solo capability may not have changed but as far as Adoulin goes there really isn't any compelling reason to solo anything.

Kind of sucks for up and comming Dnc as I'm nearing the end of Abby and almost ready for VW once i finish a few of my +2 gear. Now in a debait about shelving it or gear it up to Seekers then store it til we become useful (and go work on Pup)

My recommendation to new players is always to master and level BRD, COR, or WHM.

These are relatively non-intensive jobs gear acquisition-wise and they'll take you far in gearing any other job you wish to perfect.

I have awesome gear for DNC and PUP, but I probably got half of that gear on COR.

Yeah, also I'm having trouble convincing myself that I should augment the dagger, pants, etc. The only time I'll really want the marginal upgrades beyond the first two levels is when I'm in Delve, which won't be on DNC.

They basically made it so only one event matters, and Dancer doesn't matter for that event because (due to other changes in the same patch) we can't stand on our own as a DD. I can go do soloable content that doesn't matter, but it doesn't matter so why would I do it?

At the moment, I'm gearing Bard and deciding if I even want to continue developing my Dancer's gear. I already regret spending points on the dagger and dumping my Airlixirs into it.

Was so determined to get Skadi gear and such for my DNC, but with this update, I kind of don't feel like getting the gear for it anymore... This update kind of wanted me to focus more on my WHM again :(

Even with my dnc being pretty much irrelevant to Delve, I still want to get all the old gear that I've been pining for.

My mythic (assuming I can ever catch Medusa...), my skadi +1...I *just* finished my Etoile +2 legs (I also took months off due to no motivation).

Dnc will always be my baby, regardless of the facts.

I do, however, plan on getting back to work on my cor just so I can actually participate.

Ya, I'm tempted to do the 3 City VW on Dnc and end there for the time being. Some of the gear that would of went to dnc can be used on afew of my other jobs so I'll get it and when Dnc is useable again then I'll just use that gear and pick up from there. But after my Dnc has beaten all 3 cities, I'll shelve it (still have my +2 empy to get and my Empy Dagger to hit at least lv 90)

I actually went to Delve on DNC twice yesterday just to farm points. The first time, I did something like 10% damage out of 6 DDs with my social. Inconsistent hastes specifically on me and Delve burnout laziness on my part contributed to that, but a larger part of it was a lack of the new dagger(s) and the general shitiness of our damage.

The second run I got even less support than before (no marches most of the time) and I decided to start Waltzing because the healers were having some trouble keeping up MP and my damage was already crap. I started Waltzing about half way in and ended up healing 34k HP (tied with my party's WHM, while the other party's WHM had 58k). If I had Waltzed the entire time, I bet I could have led the cure parse easily. If we have any role in Delve, it's probably as the 18th man Waltzing to heal the Plasm farming alliance with minimal support.

I got so burned out between abyssea and dynamis I just quit on my Twash all together for awhile. We started doing Salvage 1 when I came back again and my attention turned to base Skadi and my Terp.

Unfortunately all 3 times we went to camp Medusa, she didn't show up (sadly for days) and we just gave up to actually do something with our time.

I've done 2 field NMs, and my role in both of them was basically to open or close a light skillchain so the blm could MB.

I love using it in Reives though...assuming the amount of people isn't overwhelming I usually make out pretty good.

I'm feeling the same way... I've only had DNC99 for a matter of weeks now since I wanted to level a new job but without the hassle of skillup and a huge gear burden. Since I was already THF99, DNC made a lot of sense. But now, most of my "projects" on DNC (and THF for that matter) are very diminished. There's no reason to continue working on a STR Thokcha, especially with the price involved. I was going to start work on a Twashtar, but it wasn't even that amazing pre-patch and now certainly isn't worth the effort. I need to +2 my Etoile Tiara and get the augment on my Etoile Tights +2, but those seem like poor places to focus my efforts.

My THF is in pretty good shape, so is my DNC... just not gonna hold up in new content. I'll probably get the new dagger after all the items I need for SAM and RNG...

Ya, decided I won't shelf my Dnc yet as I have no other jobs that can farm currency in Dyniamis and agree on Str Thokcha, I'll probably turn in my 15 Flame Geodes after I'm done with the Bird x 300 trial and stop and focus on finishing my Str H2H instead. And since I've done the work so far, I'll go ahead and make my 90 Twashtar and not worry about the 1500 plate upgrade.

I'll finish gearing out my +2 empy though and maybe finish the agument on my Relic pants but after the 3 city VW wins, Dnc will be reduced to farming for my Relic Gun and Bow for Rng.

Seems Dnc is going the way of the Dragoon now.

There will shortly not be a reason to farm Dynamis. Currency is down to 4k each on my server. Alexandrite is down to 8k each. HMPs are spiraling towards 70k each.
