Windbuffet belt, 3% of the time, it works every time.

2.94-2.98% of the time*
3% is more consistent.

You may never see a windbuffet proc on a 6 stone vw run. Consistency just won that parse. If you make up that damage later building tp on a worm, who gives a ***?
Kin37ix said: »
Now later on, you get that omgwtf windbuffet proc on a *** worm in abyssea. Your spreadsheet says youre slightly ahaid "on average", but you lost the *** VW parse, when it mattered most.

Kin37ix said: »
None of that matters if your windbuffet procs on worms in abyssea. If youre fighting ADL, and you want a 100% guaranteed damage boost for the fight, you'll use something else.
Fenrir.Sylow said: »
Over time is all that matters.

So your argument is that you don't think windbuffet belt is better because you can't know for certain that the TA/QA will kick in on the fights that matter?

You do realize that even something like pDif you can't control and while OVER TIME it will balance out, you could be at the bottom half of the scale on those ADL/VW fights, and perhaps waste your top half of the scale pDif while fighting those same worthless worms. There is no certainty where you actual pDif will fall for any particular moment, but you still participate in those fights I presume. Just like there is no certainty on whether or no TA/QA will proc you should still wear things like windbuffett because you gear based on averages over time.

By your logic consistency>average, even if it is less overall damage. If you are so stuck on this belief and gearing accordingly while completely ignoring how averages work, please just quit the game. Doing 0 damage 100% of the time consistently by doing so is as concrete, absolute as you can get.

2. a typical amount, rate, degree, etc.; norm.
3. Statistics . arithmetic mean.
4. Mathematics . a quantity intermediate to a set of quantities.

adjective
6. of or pertaining to an average; estimated by average; forming an average: The average rainfall there is 180 inches.
7. typical; common; ordinary: The average secretary couldn't handle such a workload. His grades were nothing special, only average

SO MANY PEOPLE don't know what "average" means. I finally find it necessary to have the definition ready to copy and paste 24/7 to educate the masses.

Also I didn't read the whole thing, but I found it funny that he was advocating Atheling Mantle over Unkai Sugemino, but has been adamantly against Windbuffet belt.

Actually, Diasetsu corrected me way before you did. But since you like algebra so much, I'll lay it down for you so you can be sure I already knew.

X = Mutliattack Rate
Y = Number Of Relevant Hits
Z = Odds Of Proc

1-((100-X)/100)^Y = Z

Id love to stay and post with you until sundown but unfortunately I have better things to do. Enjoy your day of posting, as usual.

So what you're saying is, 3 attack = relevant stats.

You're arguing about consistency, and at the same time, arguing for the less consistent (and overall less effective, but I digress) piece of gear.

This is also ignoring the fact that consistency goes hand-in-hand with "average".

Windbuffet has only relevant stats. It adds an average amount of fTP to your weaponskills. Average. You will be getting more out of that belt over time than other belts.

"I want to hit consistently lower, yay!"

Ask me how many times I've played SAM in the last 6 months, and how much I care about buying a belt for a job I don't use.

The only gearsets on FFXIAH that I readily maintain are for BLU.

Well this thread has simply been beaten to death at this point.. Kin do yourself a favor. Either stop posting, or USE MATH TO BACK UP YOUR CLAIM. All your saying is "this is better" or "i dont agree with x or y or z". USE MATH! Others have provided math, you simply have not. You said "i know the formula for such and such" but clearly you don't have a full grasp for it all or you'd agree with the people USING SAID MATH.

We're talking about reducing your lowest low by 1-2% and increasing your highest high by 200% or more, not by decreasing your lowest low by 99% and increasing your highest high by 1000000%.

There's a huge difference.

Except I already mentioned if you need accuracy to use ele. belt, so no, you wouldn't win that.

Then why are you not wearing it?
Don't have to have/use something to know it's better.

If I really wanted to win the windbuffet argument I would have brought up conserve TP long ago. I dont really care anymore though, so whatever.

ftfy

That might be the iffy leg you need to stand on and would terribly hard for someone to argue any math you provided. (not that you've mathed about anything of substance to date)

Really though at this point just say thanks for the help and go buy yourself a windbuffet belt. Its better, its been proven and tested.

I'm currently using this, any pointers? I get pretty consistent damage, so I think it's pretty good.

I sub /DRG because I don't like the inconsistency of double attack.
