Havent been able to find to much about blade shun was wondering if it will take over for blade jin or compete with hi maybe?

Pretty sure it'll beat Jin. Status vs Hi depends on the exact nature of the attack penalty at 100 TP (pretty sure there's still a penalty, though much reduced). I'm compiling my data from last night right now, so I can give you a better answer in 10-15 minutes.

Beats out blade jin from what I remember reading. And I think you only use shun when OcDD is up or something. Night will make a post I'm sure in 2 seconds lol.

The attack penalty is around 8% at 100 TP. A little less potent than I'd hoped, but it's still the best weaponskill for non-Kannagi users. I'd say Tobi is pretty outdated now bar Abyssea.

So it's actually a bit better than it was before the recent "fix" to the attack penalty?
That's really good, considering that even before the Fix it was a really nice option for non-kannagi.

Even more reasons for me not to upgrade my Mozu into a Tobi now.

Can't wait to see where that level99 Katana that augments Utsusemi drops from.

Sounds like this new WS will not only make Tobi outdated but completely useless (considering new katanas with more base dmg being added).

So, either go Kannagi or get a good Katana and merit the new WS, I suppose.

so it beats the level 60 weaponskill but is a bit weaker than the empyrean weaponskill, now if only SE could apply this logic to ALL of the other weaponskills... then we would be atleast making progress

Any idea how a 95 Kikoku Blade: Shun would compare against a 90 Kannagi Blade: Hi?

Better delay on other options is more relevant than base damage tbh. The high WSC and resulting increase in weaponskills as a proportion of your output devalue base damage. High DW also encourages the use of low delay setups since TP gain accelerates with decreased delay.

It really depends. Shun damage takes a nosedive if you're not well buffed due to the attack penalty and lack of crits, whereas Hi decays slower. Low enemy AGI and ability to exploit Innin/other critrate buffs favors Kannagi for obvious reasons. If pDIF is high then Shun stands to match, sometimes even beat Hi, but in lower pDIF situations Hi will be the clear winner. A comparison between the two weapons on the whole is slightly more complicated.

Gives an attack bonus depending on your shadow count lol. He probably expected an additional shadow.

Oh...boooooo lol though it might be large enough to counter the att- on shun? still dont know if im gonna merit it, but as i dont have a kannagi, i just might

The delay on it is horrible, unless it's a fairly large attack bonus it won't be worth it. Even then, if you're cycling shadows a lot the bonus will vary.

This is what I came up with on gear for Blade: Shun;
Low Attack Situation

High Attack Situation

Let me know if anything should be tweaked. :x

Well it's 17 more delay from the typical 210, doesn't seem too bad to me.
The good part about that katana is that it's Rare, supposing it won't be insanely rare, it could be a nice AH katana for lazy people, kinda like Ichi-an+1 was.
With 53 damage and DEX+5 it really doesn't sound that bad.
What else do you suggest, other than Firepath Katana?

I'm still using a lolhochomasamune...

I dunno, but with the lowftp of Shun I think elemental neck/gorget should always be used.
Maybe Bandomusha in place of AF+1?

Gorget/belt should always be used due to the fTP applying to all hits.

Also, reminder: 100% DEX mod. DEX is far more important than STR and you'll need quite a bit of attack in a slot for that to be better too.

This is the best currently existing set barring augments:

A very well augmented Shura Kabuto +1 with WSDMG+3% and a high amount of both attack and DEX can slightly edge out the Toci/Ocelomeh combo. At that point, Toci's is only very slightly ahead of Iga +2 but still generally superior. EDIT: set bonus wasn't working properly, Ocelomeh Headpiece +1 is king.

I'll update the set later once all the new gear is in the xiah database.

EDIT: Rings are augmented with attack if you didn't already guess.

Night, opinion about Epona's, Bandomusha, Centaurus Earring and Usu legs? Decent "second choice" to go in place of what you posted?

One last thing I suppose; Even in a low attack situation would it still be better off using the Set bonus over Gnadbhod's(edit: or better yet the shura kabuto augmented)?

Decent, 5-hit + offhand potentially limits the value of TA though.

Iga's better.

Pretty close, probably what I'll be using.

Quote:
and Usu legs?
~Tied with Tumbler for second, but Haidate are so useful for NIN and easy to obtain that I really can't justify anything else in the slot.

For secondary options... hm. Aias head, Iga +2 body, Iga +2 or now Koga +2 for feet. Rajas/Epona's is workable.

Leviathan.Phenomena said: »

As a very general rule I'd say 3 attack ~= 1 DEX. WSC rounding will affect this answer along with buffs/enemy stats.

I was toying with the idea of using it in Voidwatch given how often you'll have AM3 up from Dusty Wings but the attack penalty kind of killed that given that I can ride Innin all day long as is.
