around Vollbow outpost, using no JAs. wanted to see how the WS did on its own. On war because there was 3 I was curious about and war could use all of them, and I only had a couple hours. Considering reasonably high attack to begin with, and being able to use all of them, made sense. Relitively base attributes because I was trying to see what the WSs could put out on their own without relying too heavily on gear. In short, I was not impressed. I like what they're doing with the additional effects on a lot of the WSs, but I don't see enough potential in the 3 of the ones I experimented with myself to pump 100 merits into them after they are implemented.

With 100% mods, it might do well to put some gear on when you do testing.

Wait... Kiko.... the new WS at 5/5 merits have a 100% stat mod..why would you "not want to rely too heavily on gear"? wth.....

And you make a valid point. If I had more time yesterday I would have tried that next. As I said though, initial experimenting was to see what the WS could do on its own without a specialized gear set/being on one of the only jobs people will actually merit it for as opposed to what all can use it.
I appreciate you at least asking some simple questions at first instead of just outright flaming though.

This is FFXI ... people have specialized gear sets for sitting around doing nothing ... why would you WS in anything but a specialized gear set tailored for that WS ...

Well, I dunno guys. He does have a point. If I had first tested Rudra's Storm on my BRD, I'd be pretty disappointed too.

Aside from the elites who likely also already have one or more Empyreans among other things, not everyone walks around with a gear set for every stat all the time. I wasn't trying to see how much it could do if I was for example "uber leet main thief with best of the best dex/agi gearsets because that's all I play." Was more curious how good it would be for people who play a large variety of jobs and tend to lack inventory space to pimp themselves out like that. Yes, gearing for it would have added some damage, but the gap I saw was still extremely large. I think 5/5 merits and a superb gear set would be required to really compete with evisceration for example. Then sure, probably close or a little better. However, not everyone is so specialized. on a positive note, although it did get nerfed pretty hard, Realmrazer didn't get hit quite as bad I was expecting. I don't know if I'll put points into it, but I was expecting a lot less than 1k after the "we're gonna nerf it so hexa strike is better" post they had made.

Anywhom, amongst all the quarrel, anyone know if Exentrator will outperform Evisceration inside abyssea? I would imagine the cruor buffs would help it vastly, but razed ruins and the like might push Evisceration ahead, making it remain the default ws in abyssea.

In short, not everyone has that kind of space/time/gil to dump into a gear set for every stat for every job. Some people actually play 15+ and settle on decent as opposed to the best. I was curious how WS would perform for people like that.

OK, so we've come to the conclusion that if you're going to deliberately gimp yourself and not make full use of the WS's potential, it's worse than another WS whose potential you're also not using to the fullest.

I'm pretty sure even the most average of average players would macro in some AGI gear if you told them their WS had a 100% AGI mod.

You're not seeing how much the average player might get out of it, you're seeing how much a terrible player might get out of it.

Ya...what? I have like 8 95 jobs and I still gear them pretty well, all things considered...without mules, btw.
