I personally feel that BF3 is the superior game, but it doesn't matter because debating opinions is never going to end with everyone agreeing. Trying to convince people would be an exercise in futility. I'm curious about something. The people who tried BF3 and didn't like, did any of you try deathmatch? I hear a lot of feedback about how BF3 has huge maps, but that game type has pretty small maps.
Before anyone goes rage defending, I'm sure this happens in plenty of games, but it just adds more wood to the fire of "MW3 is a add-on to MW2", which I find funny.
I hated MW2, a lot. I loved CoD4 a ton. MW2 just felt like such a step down then a step up to me. As it stands, I haven't played MW3 yet because I'm poor as hell, but really If I had the money I don't know if I'd get it.

Yeah; I just don't enjoy the mechanics of the game enough for it I think :(

It feels like CoD4 to play moreso than MW2 but it's also distinctly not CoD4 at the same time... if that makes sense which it likely doesn't. What didn't you like about MW2 vs CoD4? Can give you a better idea based on this.
So, MW3 has been out for a day, and I wanted to ask a question: is there a single game-breaking overpowered gun like Black Ops's FAMAS? Are the weapons balanced any better, or is it just back to "use this one gun and only this gun or ur a noob" mentality?

Early days but I haven't found any gun bad. Shotguns are pretty good despite being primaries (for once)! Machine Pistols are nicely rebalanced by HOLY RECOIL BATMAN
I've had no complaints so far except that quickscoping is somewhat back, but eh, whatever. Oh and how the Ghost of this game isn't unlocked for quite awhile since everyone and their freakin' mother has UAV as a killstreak, lol. New perks are very fun.

Type 95 is pretty damn strong, but so far nothing really "overpowered."

My issue with BF3 is it's boring as hell to me. Nothing to really spice up the shooting. Sure there's vehicles, but I just didn't find it fun. I guess if you want "realistic" then sure but it's a video game. Enlist if you want realistic warfare.

Has the same problems as previous ones of its type which balance it out in my opinion: requires a really steady aim, relatively ineffective against multiple targets, not good at suppressive fire, etc.
Also, noticed how the last AR has slightly increased mobility compared to the others? Could be interesting.
Don't know, I'm only like 20ish. Only played for about 5 hours, I was sleepy by the time I got my copy. I lack the energy I used to have when previous CoDs came out. I'MMA OLD MAAAAAN
Honestly, I would love to see a new Rainbow 6 game come out. It was a MUCH slower pace than CoD, but felt like it had more depth in the actual action(no perks though). I like that almost every gun had a silencer option, instead of having to add it full-time, as well as single, triple, and full auto firing options(single-shot AK47 ftw). The cover system they used in Vegas added more strategy to the firefights, and if you tried "running and gunning," your gun would recoil all over the place and you'd be dead in a second.
Sooo tired of people running by me full speed, and quick-scope sniping, or full-auto kills from across the map with the FAMAS in BO. Might as well have Overshields and Banshees if we're going to toss realism out the window like that. I love CoD, but it just feels like Quake with it's pace.

Oh I'm not up there yet; just looked at all of the stats in private match :)
So far, in my 4 hours of gameplay, MW3 plays radically different than MW2 and Black Ops. To say its a $60 dollar map pack is ignorance at its finest. Other than the well known fact that its the same game engine, the perks and killstreaks have been severely overhauled.
Standard example - Black Ops popular perk setup:
Perk 1 - Ghost Pro
Perk 2 - Sleight of Hand Pro
Perk 3 - Hacker Pro/Second Chance Pro
This setup is impossible in MW3, you can't even come close to it. If you want the equivalent of Ghost Pro, you have to go with
Perk 1 - Blind Eye Pro (immune to air support and sentries)
Perk 2 - Assassin Pro (immune to UAV, thermal, portable radar, heartbeat)
Perk 3 - No second chance/last stand at all, Hacker Pro.
That setup completely sacrifices Sleight of Hand Pro, and if you don't think thats a big deal, then you aren't a CoD vet, in fact you have very little understanding of the game. To continue, if you want to have Sleight of Hand Pro, then you have to go with this (take note of perk 2):
Perk 1 - Sleight of Hand Pro - (Fast reload, fast weapon swap)
Perk 2 - Quickdraw Pro (Faster Aiming, faster recovery from nade/equipment use)
Perk 3 - Steady Aim/Hacker
As you can see, they split Sleight of Hand into 2 different perks, and again, if you don't think faster aiming is a big deal, then you have little understanding of the game. This setup sacrifices all types of Ghost/Flak Jacket/Hardline/Overkill.
Clearly, Activision was aiming for better game balance when they split/removed a lot of common perks. This post is long enough I will explain the killstreak overhaul (which is radical) and weapon proficiency (and its radical impact) later.
I really, really, really hate that Marathon Sleight of Hand and Scavenger are in the same tier.

There are plenty of guns that can render the Famas utterly useless. BO wasn't broken. The G36C is a beast (but then again all guns are utterly broken in MW3)

Blops approach to guns:
Normalise them, make them more or less the same.
Pros: arguably more balanced
Cons: less interesting
MW2/MW3 approach to guns:
Make all guns incredibly lethal killing machines.
Pros: All guns feel different and match the playstyle of the wielder; never feel weak
Cons: can lead to some guns dominating if they are too powerful even by general standards
BO had about 3~4 guns to use. If you didn't use those few, then you would lose every single gun fight. I find that incredibly boring. That's not balanced at all. Either make everything weak or everything strong. I can run around with any gun in this game and do good. That's a GOOD thing imo.

Love having someone do a 180 and 1 shot me with their 'insert gun here' when I just put a half a clip in the back of their head with a Rapid Fire UMP45 or an entire clip of an M4A1

Honestly, if it wasn't a shotgun, I could handle a fire fight with any gun in the game. Was it a bit easier with the guns that took 1-2 less hit markers to drop people? Yes. Was that game breaking because of fire rate? No. The thing about MW games is the fire rate is 700+ on every gun I've seen. When you talk about that, 1-2 hits to kill makes a huge difference.
