@Nibu. That is why I am saying people who are crying over 4m need a wambulance. You can make 4m in max three days of fishing with Ebisu.

I wasn't crying, was just saying it would be nice for another way to get the item. Don't know where you are getting 4mil from. Gugs are 30k on Bismarck, x849 = over 25mil, luckily I haven't had to purchase all 849 of them but its still a bit disheartening to be 0/849 when everyone else in my linkshell seems to be getting the items in less then 50 trades.

It's the internet. It was invented to complain.

Unfortunately luck is luck, but I've spent about 1 full 7 day week fishing almost 200 cave cherax a day and I mostly average anywhere from 37 to 48. So your number seems on par.

Nobody really recommends it or lists it even, but I used sliced bluetail and found the bite rate for Hakuryu to be pretty amazing. I caught 20 before going back to cave cherax within an hour or so.

Assuming you have Serpent rumors but not ebisu? You might need to wait for an ebisu before going for haks.

Currently trying to figure out which is better for Hakuryu. Sardine Paste or Minnows. Sardine Paste takes time to craft but saves me a lot of space. Minnow difficult to find and expensive to make but targets less fish.

The first time I used sardine paste on Haks I went through 30 casts before getting a hit. 30 bait used for 1 fish was enough to make me stick to lures. I haven't tried sliced bluetail though.

I had 5-6 stacks of bluetail when i headded out there for a trial. I didn't even use a full stack of 99 bait but got 20 haks out of the water.

1/750 on Saber Shoot finally...

Pretty much gave up on this quest last month once I hit the ~700 mark, was buying half of them and a friend helped me fish the other half before the big Matsya update. After that I let him be so he could go after SS. Gave up at around 0/700~ and decided to call it quits for a while, use my gil on gear that I needed.

A really nice friend I recently made after seeing them at every fishing GP spot I was at has been sending some Gugs my way every so often. Had 2 sitting in my inventory tonight that I thought I'd go get rid of to clear up some space. I ended up finally getting it when I was least expecting it. So *** happy right now, that totally made my week.

1/750 Saber
1/10 Opal

Now it's time to make up for my losses...

Why are Minnows expensive to make? They just take time to make, nothing else, but still are cheaper then getting from guild. Fish in http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Oldton_Movalpolos Bugbear Masks, desynth them to get tons of glass fiber and make your own copper ingots at the airship vendors, since they sell 24/7 copper ores. If you're high enough Alchemy, you will probably HQ them pretty frequent too which gives a couple more Hakuryus since sinking minnow.

That would take way to long. From what i've seen Odin is absolutely the worst server to fish one. There is constantly someone at the guild's and at the boat's ready to buy everything. It's gotten so bad i've seen people position hack and appear next to the npcs.

It's been rly bad on Asura too, idk, i prefer fishing one night in Oldton and craft alot instead of trying to get some minnows from vendors.

the problem with Sardine Paste for Haks is that the other 2 fish they target are fairly low level (Tiger Cods are 29, Herrings are 39) meaning those will hook about 95% of the time. Bluetails are a better alternative, but because you only get 4 per synth, even when HQ, they take forever to make and you need a TON of Wind Crystals, which are being inflated hardcore atm (5-8k/stack on Lakshmi), not to mention 2 or 3 mules to fish up Bluetails every day just to have enough for one day of Glacier.

With all the costs & running, buying minnows or getting materials for cheap for them is the best alternative. Lol. Although i'm using some of the cod and turning into bait and trying for Titans for a change of pace.
