For my next Matsya run I'm looking to take someone to hold the monsters. My mule only has whm and bst atm but I'm thinking maybe sleeps or pld/dnc maybe. Any suggestions?
Wait, why would you do this? Just don't catch the mobs. You don't save any bait by catching them instead of just letting them go.
if the mobs are out of the water, it removes them from the pool of possible things you can pull from the water. Okay, if true, then wow... can't believe I never heard that before. Doesn't make much difference, though. I don't have any friends whom I can really bring to hold mobs and I don't have a job that can reliably hold them either.
Still, again, if that's true, then wow, been a long time since I learned something new about how the game system works. Thanks for the info!
I don't think that works, unless it works per person. There was someone there holding mobs this morning and he had several pugils on him (he was pulling off 2-3 people though). Additionally I think you can fish with sneak on and the mob wont aggro? Vaguely remember that working at devil manta but not 100% sure.
Works, there are only 5 possible fishing mobs in the dats, they don't just clone themselves, have all 5 out of the water, can't hook monsters. Just have to keep them spawned. The mini-rage slowly though, so you need to deaggro them at some point, get them back before they depop. They'll run back to the bridge to depop, so you can pull them away safely. It's how you fished up Devil Manta back in the day, 5 possible monsters, one of which was Devil Manta, fish up the other 4, next mob hooked by anyone is Devil Manta.

^, and they aggro only the person who reeled it in! so, if you're the holder, can just deaggro it, stay by the bridge, and wait for it to reaggro.

Question? ... I'm currently lvl 52 fishing with 103k gp, Should i just go ahead and grab the waders now? I fish legit so fishing is a huge time sink/grind where i only manage .3 - .6 skill-ups daily. Level 78 or w/e it is for other KI is gonna be awhile so grab em now? Or the +2 wont yield much change anyway?

Hold them on BST. With hippo or ladybug pet.

I really hate the search being down still.
Ok for Matsaya with dwarf pugils, I assume without mooching I will need to use albatross which will pair with Puffin? How is the bite rate and with a stack of 99 dwarfs what kind of rate would you be looking at?
I want to gander a guess for a stack of 99 I would be lucky to catch 10 fish?

I actually used 50 pugils one time without one catch. Needless to say I stopped for the day. The bite rate isn't horrible but even after taking all of the monsters out and reeling every item in, I was breaking/jellyfish really bad.
I think I caught 33 fish out of maybe 400ish pugils. As soon as I got my Shawl and hit 110, I used up the rest of my pugils and have never fished Matsya again.

Pretty much confirms what I thought about. I should save all my pugils I get until mooching (which is going to be awhile sadly because i want apron then waders next). I've been skilling up on Cave Cherax at once I cap on those at 104 I plan to move to Hakuryu full time until 110 while doing GP items each day.
I fished up 21 Hakuryu yeseterday with relative ease using Sliced Bluetail since I had an excess of it from pirates chart stuff.

Yeah apparently if all 5 monsters are out of the water it only leaves room for the few different fish varieties to bite + occasional rusty item.

The Apron seems to do zero as far as fishing Matsya. You will hook a ton of items with it and I'm waiting five years from now to see something from SE about how it's been broken this whole time. >.<

Did you try without it to see if you got way more items? Then again your not using a lure which is mostly where items come from. Didn't think about that but it's still something i want then waders next >_< Tired of looking like a hobo in this angler's stuff lol.

Nice thing about Pisces is they won't break your Lu, CCs will.
There are fishing topics that come up now and then but mainly are asking a question for a single answer. I know there are many fishers that visit these forums so this is an attempt to get people involved and have a little fun discussing one and only one thing, fishing!
I know Blue Gartr has a Fishing topic already, but I would like to see this community get involved a little bit and talk, since not everyone visits BG. I would love to have a topic just for fishers including veteran fishers, casual fishers, and even players just starting out and want to ask a few questions without being embarrassed about starting a whole topic for a simple answer they could not find.
I only ask that you keep any bot talk to a minimum, preferably none. [Moderator edit: No bot talk] I want this to be a place where we can discuss anything from GP items of the day to what lure/bait to use or what area is best. A quick mention of how you're doing on the lu shang/ebisu quest, how you're doing getting your fishing items from Grounds of Valor, that item you're saving your GP up for, or how much you wish you could hurt Zaldon for not finding anything in your fish for the 10,000th time. Your lucky moment streaks and the moments when you have nothing come your way and question why you started fishing in the first place. Anything that comes to mind, think of it as the random thoughts thread for fishing.
