I'm working on that ***right now as I'm typing. lvl 34 started in Talc Cove fishing up them Mercs, Dil, and Ahtapots. Bought my lu'shangs for 3.5mil what a steal.

A friend of mine got pissed and said I cheated. I said no I'm just smart.

I've been having problems I started fishing Huks, I was fishing them up earlier no problems. However now I'm not even getting bites on black sole.

Fish Ranking contest ended today.. 4 of my fish won the top 5 places! Mule: 1st, Me: 2nd, Friend: 3rd, other friend: 5th. Pretty happy about that. With my 2 new rings my skillups should be a lot nicer I'm hoping. Can't wait to try them out later!

Traded more Gugs also.. 0/210 now. Maybe burned all my luck out already today getting 1st/2nd place in Ranking and Heka's from Akvan? More Gugs to come later so fingers crossed (getting a good deal on the Gugs I think so not as bad).

Went back to Selbina (my Gug supplier was back and I had more time). 24 trades later got my Saber Shoot! 1/234! Now to get 78 Fishing and KI.... Been a good day for me in FFXI!

I have about 60k GP saved (>_<) and just hit 73.3 Fishing earlier today.. Haven't done todays GP item yet though. All-in-all the total Ebisu quest cost me ~5M. Not too bad I figure and Lu's is 3-3.5M on my server.

There was a guy buying Gugs from my supplier right after me, got Shoot a few trades later too. Same thing happened when I got my Lik item (friend got the item a few trades after me).

I've noticed it comes in waves. I've seen it a few times. (around the same time even on different servers)

Just the brain trying to make a pattern out of nothing though I'm sure, just find it interesting.

Is there something I'm missing with using 2 Pelican Rings? After 3 days and some 30 charges used, I've gone from ~73 to ~80 Fishing skill. 7 Levels in 3 days is very close to what I was getting pre-Pelican rings too (I usually saw around 2 levels a day if I fished to cap). Maybe my expectations were just too high, hence my slight disappointment?

I have been considering this also, but I'm going a different route. I bought a couple extra rods so when I break them I just send all 4 to my WW mule. Kind of a pain but lord those last few lvls of cooking were a nightmare. Don't wanna just delete it lol

a follow up of sorts got 72 ww and started doing it (70-80 ww is really crappy) worked great for fixing lu shang though do break crystals sometimes. and just a few mins ago...

A a few questions to some of the more experienced fishers.

I recently hit 86 and changed from Mercs/Ahtapots to Pterygotus' but am getting fairly bad bite rates on them.. About 1 per 5 casts I'd say (Using Lus + Lugworms in Nashmau). Decided to try a Sinking Minnow today but after 20 casts I had only 2 bite my line but tons of other things. Lugworms definitely seem to be the way to go for targeting these it seems, correct?

I also have another option - Armored Pisces. What are some members experiences here with these? I hear the bite rate on these is good but there are conflicting reports on skillup rate (same say bad, some say good). A downside I foresee is I'd make less money doing them since I'd be tossing more fish - Nashmau is convenient since the NPC is right behind me and I'm rather inventory limited.

I'd move onto Haks/Liks/Abaia/Gugs but won't be able to get my Ebisu's for another week (need more GP - likely have enough early next week, enough time to get a stall also I think).

Personally I fished black sole to cap at 96 then fished in Nash to cap at 99. The biterate wasn't too bad really. I used sinking minnow. I would try again if I were u. Plus blm/whm it'sa 5 min run to armored Pisces.
