Slightly outdated guide, as it has nothing on Nashmau in the mid levels, but I used it just fine.

Experienced a weird glitch today fishing in Beaucedine. First time fishing in about 2 months, started at a spot by the wall on the far south side. 2 hours went by and not a single fish ever bit the line, started thinking maybe they nerfed this while I was away. Decided to move over to a different spot by the cliff and now everything's back to normal... It's as if that one little section by the edge has no fish at all.

OK, so I have fishing skill 15.6, am using a Halcyon Rod and crayfish paste and targeting Nebimonites (cap @28 according to wiki) in SSG, but am consistently having streaks of 15-20 attempts where I don't even get a bite (and when I do, it's a log or monster). I've only reeled in about 25 fish today, and maybe 75 during the whole weekend, so I can't be fatigued. I've tried with skill up gear (+5) and without.

Did the pond run dry of fish? What's the deal here?

That happened to me ages ago. As far as I know, it's always been that way.

Dear Team Hakuryu,

Since I don't see it mentioned anywhere else here and camping the Fishing Guild for minnows is a huge pain in the ***, I'm finding that busting up tonberries in Aby-Konschtat is a great way to get lanterns for desynthing into glass fiber.

This is probably a known quantity, but INFORMATIONAL THREAD.

Random information continues:

If you want to get Ebisu without getting a Lu's, Pterygotus are amazing. Composite Rod with Lugworms, I've only seen one line break in about 300 catches (starting at 75 skill) so I'm pretty sure it's impossible for these to break the rod. They've got a pretty decent bite rate, and I've yet to see a catch lost to lack of skill, unlike some things just barely over my level, and these cap all the way at 99.

I personally think the nerf is on the way. This is getting too crazy. I have given up on minnow and am using sardine balls.

Pretty sure it's common knowledge to most but I thought I would share what I stumbled on. It's possible to get double Guild Points when you rank up in levels. Turn in all your GP fish except for one, rank up, then turn in the next skill level GP fish. It's really nice if you can time it where both level's GP fish are 5k days.

Oh yeah, 1/232 Matsya for me. I fished up all but 10 mil worth so the cost wasn't ridiculous unless you factor in how much gil I didn't make by turning them in myself.

Aggravating when I am trying to catch Cherax and not get a single bite for 20+ consecutive casts, but everybody else around me are hauling them in left and right. </rage> happens to me tooo often, AND i have both Noddy and Puffin rings like everybody else.

Edit: And No, i dont have a monkey fishing for me.

This is not true. If you turn in guild points before ranking up, the % you turn in of the total is taken off the possible % total of the next rank. So if you turn in 80% of the possible fish for guild points then rank up you can only earn 20% of the total points on the next rank.

I did notice getting less guild points on the second round but I don't think the ratio you quoted is exactly correct. I may be wrong but that seems lower than my experiences.

I found this after my last post. Sorry if I mislead anyone. I copy/pasted this directly from Wiki

Note: It is possible to obtain the maximum number of guild points for an item on a given day, then achieve a guild rank-up and receive more points on the same day, with a new item. However, the new item must have a maximum guild point cap that is more than the old item, and the guild points you have already received are logged so that you can only receive a maximum accumulated total for the day, that does not exceed the total of the new item.

Example: The craftsman guild point item for the day caps at 2000 guild points which you obtain. You then rank up to Artisan rank on the same day, whose guild point item caps at 5000 guild points. You have already obtained 2000 points for the day, but may now trade in some of the new item to obtain another 3000 guild points, for a total of 5000 guild points for the day.

It really is damn near impossible to find Minnows, I don't even bother looking for them anymore. That nerf is coming sooner or later, I've barely spent what I've made through fishing since the cruor nerf just incase this is next.

I had forgotten about this template:
http://wiki.bluegartr.com/bg/Black_Ghost

Was there anything else we were trying to change/add to it? I forget now.

Also, does anyone know a way to get a bite rate higher than 10% on Black Ghosts in Caedarva Mire? I could probably skill on these to 85+ if I could figure out how to actually make them bite.

Hey, Just hit Lv 50 Fishing and was wondering if I'm good with 2 Pelican rings to get safely to 100 within 3-4 weeks or so? Fishing at Nashmau at the moment till 96 or less I forget the cap. Also are Black Ghost's better to skill up on 60+ than my current spot?

No, almost certainly not. I'm just trying to level up without Lu Shang's using the "too small" trick.

To follow up on this, 7 hours of fishing net me 0.8 skill.

Not sure because I've not got to 100 yet myself.
I've got about 6 Pelicans left I think. (on main character Frank. Got 5 on alt account too) And at 88 fishing I wouldn't say I'm even confident that I'll hit 110 with them lol.

You're just in that happy phase at the moment. Where skill ups will seem to be pretty good using a Pelican in Nashmau.
Somewhere in the mid 80's levels you will feel like you could kill a man some days with the lack of skill ups.
I've given up for a few weeks to take a rest after hitting 88 and getting my Ebisu (at 85 I think it was) and making my Fishing Stall.

Been leveling (fishing) on Ruth my main character on alt account with the first of those other 5 Pelicans and in the 20's she still gets over a level of skill fron Nebs occasionally from a ring charge lol.

Lagmau never gave me good skill ups for some reason but Talacca Cove went really fast doing Dil Mercanbaligi Ahtapot.
