Odd POL Viewer Glitch/error

Would like to know if this has happened to anyone before, Bismarck or not, and how you fixed it. Trying to avoid a fresh install, of course.

Last night we wrapped up linkshell events and were dishing out D2's. I DC'd from the game and shut down POL viewer to login after I made sure my internet was up and modem was fine. I go to log back in on the POL viewer and my saved POL ID's were there, but displayed in gibberish. I tried to login using it anyway, but I immediately get a "Cannot connect to server error". Ok, lame...I deleted that and re-added my account on POL Viewer. Displayed fine, so I tried to login again. Same issue, and this time when it backed out to the list of IDs, it displayed in gibberish again.

The only way I can get in-game now is using the Login as Guest option.

No, I have not .dat modded/swapped or anything.
Yes, I use Windower, its fully up to date, etc.

Going to call support when they open, etc.


Anyone else ever have this issue?

sounds like you have file issues, files linked to your account.
do you have another computer/platform you could log in and test it?

Yes I do, just did and I had no issues logging in or out, several times, even with security token.

I even did a file check and it said there were no problems.

I'm making a dumb guess here, and you prolly wouldn't want to do this until you hear more responses.....

you could un-install POL only and re-install it, FFXI-game files SHOULD-NOT be affected by this, so POL would be the only one needing to patch up and update, and it goes faster.

How do you only uninstall POL?

Don't uninstall Final Fantasy XI.

Start > Settings > Control Panel > Programs and Features > Playonline Viewer and Tetra Master

Edit: I think thats correct. You might have to download the POL viewer from the SE website should you have a Vista/Windows7 OS.

BTW next time post your technical problems to the tech area of the website. You'll get much better feedback.

Yeah I thought about that but wasnt sure if that meant all technical issues, including FFXI, or non-ffxi issues.

Cant find a download for POL Viewer (Windows 7), just a "System Info" file.

And yes, I googled it.
