Well, judging what peoples have said look like we can be exited for heavy strike, I personally view barrier,harden shell to be excellent.. as for thunderbolt meh, naturally it was always extremely weak so I wasn't expecting high damage potential
Yeah I'm disappointed that it has no apparent sc properties. How are we to incorporate that into our 2hr zergness w/o it?
Heavy Strike is just WOW. Finally an answer for hard def mobs and all that for just 32 mp with only 30 sec recast.. just wow..
For ppl who don't get it yet, it's best BLU spell on HNMs and probably makes BLU one of the best DD on HNMs in the fight when you stay out of range and just go in do damage and back off ( kinda like SAM back in days ).

Can post SS if I can get my settings to work correctly (so that chat log shows), but Heavy Strike did 5900 with CA+Efflux on a clionid. Used RR and SS and SA, with loki's and anwig salade with crit damage. Basically stacked as much STR as I could in the other slots. I'm extremely impressed, considering the low mp cost of the spell, and the decent recast time.
Why are people crapping on sudden lunge? If it has better accuracy than head butt, BLU will be an incredible stunner once again (7-8 second recast with -50% recast reduction)
Edit: The stun duration on sudden lunge can actually last longer than the recast on the spell. I've never seen regular stun last as long as this.

After some weird testing, it seems that it does have an SC property: Fragmentation.
... also my katana skill hit 0 I only have access to Blade: Rin,Kamu & Hi lol
It appears that Heavy Strike makes light with CDC, but something about the animation of the spell cuts off SC animations. Further testing needed but... a 772 heavy strike just sawed off way more HP than it should have.

Also, I have all but confirmed the fact that Heavy Strike is fragmentation, and may be the first physical attack in FFXI to possess a secondary level 3 skillchain property.

God damn why did I not sign up for the newer payer methods sooner... Almost downloaded... Thanks for the info guys. I know ya'll said Thunderbolt is a longer stun duration, but how long are we talking? Worth using at all?
Honestly, sudden lunge seems to last longer than thunderbolt, ~10-15s. About 7s if resisted.

But with a relatively long casting time for a stun spell with mediocre damage, which pales in utility compared to the hardened shell spell on the same timer, I can't see it getting much use other than maybe an OHSHI sort of thing should you not have whirl of rage or something set.

Fair enough. Was expecting a little more out of the HNM spells but I can definately see Diffusion Hardened shell coming in use for some situations, even if only for 90s. Hell I need some other reason for Diffusion other than the occasional hastega.
