I've done the Forest of Symbols event and the Armory contest. The old man at the Harley entrance does not mention a dragon in the Salva Mines as he should for me to go recruit Ashton.

.......Am I beyond the point of recruiting him? ._.

Ashton was the only character I REALLY wanted to recruit!

Its been years since i played this game, All i remember is you have to go to the Mines before a certain point in the game.

I suggest trying to read a Gamefaqs guide on it :(

I'm going by a guide I found on Gamespot since gamefaqs didn't have one.

It says after the Forest of Symbols event if I talk to the old man at the entrance of Harley he should mention a dragon in the Salva Mines. He doesn't, but I went to the mines anyway to the sign that says "DRagons Ahead, beware" and Rena won't let me go past it.

I might have to start over :/

I think you have to go to the port before the tournament.

Game is a lot shorter than i remember as a kid though.

Played it on the PSP lately and went through it quicker than i recall back in the old days.

Seems like that for every game though

I restarted, about to get Celine, then retrying Ashton. Realized I actually didn't get very far at all xD Just the Kurik bit took awhile to get through all the blah blah sections.

And yeah they seem shorter now because before when we played it we didn't know how to play these games XD

For example, I remember playing stuff like Mega Man X on SNES when I was like, 10, and taking WEEKS to beat it. Now, I can load it up in an emulator and beat it in like 2 hours, and thats being lazy.

So...I finally got Ashton! I've never played Star Ocean 2 before, until now. It has its very comedic moments that I am thoroughly enjoying. Just now I go to leave the town of Salva after getting Ashton and I get these 2 gems:

Gem #1
=========
Claude: So how are we supposed to exorcise that dragon off of your back?
Ashton: To be honest, I haven't got a clue.
Claude: Heh. We sure hit that dead-end pretty quick.
=========

Gem #2
=========
Rena: Let's give them names!
Ashton: Names?! For this DRAGON on my back?!?
Rena: Yeah! We're going to be stuck with them for awhile, aren't we?
Ashton: Yeah, but...
Rena: Ok! Let me think...

*silence*

Rena: I've got it! Let's call the one with the scary eyes Creepy and the one with the sad eyes Weepy! They'll be Creepy n' Weepy!

*silence*

Claude: That is so dumb.
=========

The way Claude said that last line was just so LOLOLOLOL.

Maybe this should go in that favorite video game quotes thread~

Ashton and Dias were my favorite characters from the main Star Ocean 2 cast.

Then, Chisato if you knew you could recruit her.

I read about a PA you can do to "remove the limiter" from the final boss to make it stronger. Is that what you're talking about?

The voice acting on the PSP version is fantastic. It's a genuinely fun game as well.

I've been itching to finish SO2, but my PSP decided to bork--the laser isn't sliding up and down the bar like it should be.

Yep that's how you remove the limiter.

Maybe I'll pick it up for the PSP.
