Not blu, but I helped a BLU get Spinal cleav... well, it'd be more accurate to say I helped her never get Spinal Cleav. 8 days for 4+hours and gave up.
After about 24 solid hours over a week of failing to learn this, I was so pissed I deleted my character of 5 years. Three 75 jobs, gone because of Blue Mage. I started over a couple weeks later, and eventually got my original guy back through Return to Vana'diel campaign. Blue Mage can suck it. Never again.
Refueling was by far my worst spell, especially since it was a "need" spell and couldn't really be solo'd back when I was leveling (uncapping Riverne was a godsend for new BLUs looking for this spell). Spent several evenings in Halvung with friends trying to learn that one.

This. I spent like a cumulative of 15 hours trying to learn Pinecone Bomb from the trees in Jugner and never got it. When I was walking around in Attowha I accidentally got aggro from a Tree and learned it 1/1. =/

This was worst for me too, I solo'd it in Lufaise. Waiting an hour to kill 2-3 bombs if you're lucky, and most of the time you get lightning weather and no pops. Took me about a week and a half...
I was lucky in that I levelled BLU right after ToAU came out, so we took an alliance of about 8 BLU into Riverne and got Refueling without much problem.
Frenetic Rip was pretty awful, mostly because we hadn't figured out how to break the horn yet.
Worst luck I've had though was Plenilune Embrace. For some reason, I just wouldn't learn it until like 30 wolves later!
Sub-zero smash..... Still don't have it and I've been tryin off and on since they added it 2years ago >~
That and everyones grudge... Was taking almost 10-20k dmg from it so ended up clearing hate and have a smn friend tank the damn thing for me with his avatars

Good answer, those mobs are total hacking ***, what with their invincibility and ridiculously long terror or w/e they do, soloing them becomes really dangerous.
I've taken a lot of random noob blus to mount Z to learn it, simply because I know that learning it without help is total nuts. Not as bad with uncapped riverne, but still not great since they're still stupidly tough mobs for the level you need it.
I only took BLU to 49 for subjob availability, but I had my share. Mostly because I was OCD about getting every single one, even if I knew I'd never use them.
1/42 Metallic Body, and goddamn Refueling. Refueling I spent about 2 weeks total on, sitting in Lufaise every 02:00-08:00 window and only getting like 20 chances. Then a LS member took pity and brought me to Zhayolm...where we promptly spent about an hour going 1/30+.
Plus, though this is more an annoyance because I know too many lucky BLU's, but I've only gone 1/1 on two spells ever...Head Butt and Jettatura.

I learned mine in Lufaise Meadows, I think... Waited for foggy weather, found cluster, keeled it, learn't. :P First time hunting it too.
I tried helping a guy get it in Riverne, he had the worst luck ever.
Spinal Cleave. *** that ***. That's the reason I quit leveling BLU when I did, because I refused to level without getting all the spells as early as possible.
Memento Mori - uncooperative Corses
Healing Breeze - just wouldn't learn at the time :(
Magic Hammer - Via the waiting on fog in Sarutabaruta (S) method. Those bog standard toads respawn too fast and join in :(
Reaving Wind - The only spell I haven't attempted to learn yet so I guess it's bothersome for that reason...
Wow, these are some horror stories... I really never had problems getting any spell outside of pollen/sprout smack/ metallic body those were the worst...
The rest I got lucky I suppose.... but, /whm for dia spam + af body/ gloves on pretty much got me every spell I farmed within 1-3 hours. If I had to go through what some have on here, I totally would have quit. For those that did, I don't blame you...
Every Blue Mage has a small handful of spells that are/were a bit*h to learn. Post which you had the biggest headache obtaining or are still trying to get.
Mine so far are:
Maelstrom (just cant learn it! ugh!) Auroral Drape (took 40 mobs to learn) Heat Breath (they have way too many TP moves) Metallic Body (took a week to get) Wild Carrot(they didnt want to use it) Feather Barrier (see above)
