legitimately enjoys the films and books and is a relatively hairy (albeit thinner) male.
Have we met?
Who knows, it's a small world. I've meet 5 or 6 FFXI'ers in my town alone.

I got a giggle out of that.
Anyhow, what's going on now? People's unrealistic perceptions of modern romance?

Bahamut.Raenryong said: I agree, kinda. Romance adds a lot of depth to a story and as someone who feels strong emotions often, I find stories with love as part of them very touching (the idea of fighting etc for your loved one for instance). That said, gratuitous sex scenes or whatever can ruin it entirely. Call me weird but despite being a very sexual person, I dislike sex scenes in movies/books etc. If I want sex, I'll go watch porn. If I'm playing a game/watching a (non-pornographic) movie or reading a book, then sex scenes RARELY add anything to the story.
I've never actually read a book with a real sex sceen in it... some that have come close, but I think it would really throw things off like you said if they went into details.
Edit: Scratch that I read one where it went to just after the first hump if that counts... It actually worked really well into the story and wasn't akward at all.

I wasn't a massive fan of the teenage angst or the interpersonal workings of the characters. I also didn't care for the "i can't choose a man but the writer doesn't think this makes me a *** because she's female (and clearly a mary suethor) aspect".
I do however like the imagery, especially in the first book. The sea of green and the dreary rainy days were easy to imagine

Romance is possible these days Nini... Its more like if the guy is really into, getting flowers and cooking dinner and pampering his girl. If mind you, the girl is into that and isn't the more independent type, that isn't into mushy stuff.

Quote: Honest question: how would you define romance as applied IRL? Honestly I think it's more of a story-telling device and doesn't exactly exist IRL in the same manifestations as Hollywood. Not saying I don't believe in love or passion, but the term romance really is lost on me.
I'm a bad woman apparently.
When you go massively out of your way or otherwise make great sacrifices purely for the benefit of your loved one is as succinctly as I can put it. An act which places their enjoyment/wellbeing much above yours though this is kinda vague.

Never thought I'd find the guy I was searching for, so almost gave up lol. The criteria I had were:
Taller then me, gamer, into Rammstein as much as me, also into rock/metal etc, good looking, sense of humour, kind, drives, works, similar food/drink tastes, understanding.
And some how, I've managed to find a guy who fits all this and more, and we're very happy :) Needless to say he's a keeper and hopefully I will never have to find someone else, because no one can compare :)

That's true. It usually becomes a health issue before an ugly issue anyway.

I'd have to guess it's the constant little things that would make older couples go "ugh" and roll their eyes to. Opening doors for her, pulling back the chair when getting to the table. Rather rushed but I got a party to lead. ><;
Edit: Rather late responce. Think the subtopic changed.

Nothing wrong with a little chivalry, but there are some crazy *** who might go off on you.

Well, anyhow. I think the symbiosis between partners is a compromise regardless. These grandiose ideas about romance are bolstered by pop-culture. Rom-coms and romance novels make me gag.
The simplicity in gender rolls are tried and true. Protectiveness and compassion are symbiotic, although it comes in different forms between men and women.
I can be flighty, carefree, ridiculous and overly optimistic to my own detriment, so it's nice when my partner can bring me back down to Earth. On the other hand, I also tend to be anal retentive and have a long fuse but an explosive temper. It's nice to have someone who knows where the line is, and can hold me back before I end up doing/saying something brash.

What? That's annoying. I don't know if it's because where I was raised, but it's expected and appreciated here.
In college I dated a guy from California who let the door slam in my face while walking out of a restaurant. I was appalled! WFT moment right there.
I know I shouldn't expect it. It's a courtesy, but it is one that is pure habit on the man's here.
just curious i was talking to a friend about it that loves rly big women..so what do u like? and why?
i like curvy girls.. cuz idk but ivehad that super skinny gf and she was pretty but meh it just wasnt enough..
