I finished Skyward Sword a few days ago. 100% it.
What does everyone think? Has anyone here completed the game yet?

@Ragnarock: this guy is a lol, you only see it at start cause he "stole" your bird...
Personnaly i'm in middle of aventures in SS and i'm VERY disapointed ! Seriously, zelda got nothin with this episode, i'll even say it fall bad ! Except caracters (story is ok, but not a must too), everythin else is a fail ! Yes, graphism are ok, but they only make "beautiful" zones too hard or too empty or...dunno, there's somethin missin... Game begin way too hard too, for example you can't *** ride your bird at start for understand how he word than u alrdy have to catch somethin in sky...and it's ALWAYS like this, somethin new appear, you have to MASTER it perfect assap, no little fun or cool action before...first zelda i die cause at first or second temple you fight big monsters divisin everywhere, eatin you or WAVES of goblins (and each goblin can stop u're sword, wtf at start ???) First temple is freakin long and annoyin, and u can't get out of some room until you perfectly understand how the *** new weapon work... Progression is an archetip of a zelda story-like, wich make it pretty borin...stamina gauge was a good idea, but for cooler casual they made "stamina-flower" almost everywhere, UGLY !!! and everythin is stamine now, run, jump, ropes...sob... Compared to Twilight princess (best one ever for me), or Wind waker, SkySword is BORING !!! Seriously after a hour or two i just stop cause i'm tired of doin always same things... Sounds like you're bad at it and hate it, to be honest :/
I know Groose is "lol" he's a comic rival character >.>
And I personally loved the game from start to finish. Figuring out how to control the new items took all of 5 to 10 minutes. Gilgamesh.Thedreamer

Can't say i "hate" it for now, but it start bad :x Oh, btw Kotaku just posted this if anybody likes to debate the topic. Supposedly the official timeline shown in Nintendo's new official artbook for the series as a whole.
Here is a link to the article if anyone wants to read it, but it doesn't give any more insight to the translation. I don't find it rushed at all. Hell they pushed it back so many times, how on earth can it be called "rushed?" lol
It's only more "difficult" because you no longer can flawlessly wail on enemies anymore like in previous ones. I love previous ones but they're now child's play in terms of combat compared to this one, which I love. I beat it a week or two ago.

Man seriously give me ONE zelda where the FIRST boss fight almost like the last boss of previous one ?
Yeah he's not dangerous at all, but he's blockin everythin almost like Ganon in Twilight...took me 15mn to beat this guy, maybe i'm slow yeah, but seriously why make such a boss at start ??? And excalibur tips: "slice right to left"...yeah yeah SHUT UP freakin excalibur...arn't you tired to always say the obvious in first place ??? I was like "wow excalibur is so cool" at start, but now i'm just pissed every time i can't shut up her :x Make me think of the Excalibur in Soul Eater now lol And there's no EXPLORATION at all, every zone is a puzzle with enigms and such...why give link runnin if it was only to make little zones where u almost NEVER run ??? You make every zone 3 or 4 time only because you have to run to a point or another resolvin puzzles... Twilight didnt had this problem at all, you could discover zones without resolve puzzles every two feet... Gilgamesh.Thedreamer

Well almost finish zelda now...and seriously, disapointed !
Story is lame, until the end you dont even understand the point of what u doin, except its for "save zelda". All the game is like this, either a remake of twilight on some things, either wind waker...i didnt found anythin NEW in this one ! Well except the "upgrade items"...but since its like 10 years you see it in games now, you barely notice it. So yes he's beautiful, but WII got his old ages, and you can feel it pretty bad, limits got seriously bad and it make game a "kind of old" lookin no matter how ! Add to this zones are too few or too restricted (except boat/desert/sea but limits of wii make you wish it was on another machine too :x )...you finish it way too fast, doin all quests dont really make it longer too...(stones givin solucs doesn't help increase life too) Could say lot more but i'll stop ! I seriously think magazines got nice with it, doesnt deserve it at all ! E3 video of next possible zelda on WII-U excited more than this one lolz ;x sure zelda story is not that great but gameplay is good hand held zelda games tho have lost there touch spirit tracks and phantom hourglass i hated the controlling with the pen on the DS i just finished 4swords aniversary it was soso little to easy besides the hero trial levels those made me sweat abit but for a free game it was not that bad i am looking in to getting skyward sword that looks bad *** kinda wish nintendo would do another 4swords game but actuly let each player have there own invitory and have a feild insted of levels its kinda HELP I AM TRAPPED IN 2006 PLEASE SEND A TIME MACHINE

And yeah, I agree with Haseyo, it does sound like you're bad at it and expected it to be another button-mash game. I will agree the combat is quite a bit harder to get used to than previous Zelda games, but it feels better than just waggling the Wii Remote endlessly (Twilight Princess Wii version) or mashing A (Every other game) It requires thought, the same with the puzzles that you so obviously dislike. I LIKE puzzles in Zelda...and there was ANY puzzle worth mention at all in this one !(and stones nicely give you all tips...hard to find w) Only little tricks was "how to draw" or how "to wave" the wii-lolaccessory"+"...LAME !!! (and when u know you can configure all moves on a joystick, you hardly understand the "need" of a new accessory...) The only moment where i couldn't find how to progress was in first dungeon cause u had to find the very little hole down on the left, or the switch hiden under the roof... another things where wii suck bad: almost NO CAMERA control !!! Play twilight on gamecub and wii and u understand how much wii "camera" suck bad, u get the 16/9 but u lose camera control...sob Wind waker had more limits, but cellshadin made it one of the most beautiful game ever ! Twilight had same limits, but story and ambiance made it an awesome trillin game !(optionnals quests was freakin cools too !and i dont talk of the side-caracter: BEST ONE EVER !!!) Skyward got...colors...and ? nothin... I personally never had a problem with the camera....
Also, the story was pretty good imo.

I'm not really sure what people expect anymore. Its Zelda, its going to be the same formula it has been for years. Just gotta accept it for what it is, which is always a polished, top-notch game.
Skyward Sword was amazing >.>...

Its Zelda, its going to be the same formula it has been for years. Just gotta accept it for what it is, which is always a polished, top-notch game. The game itself was great, but SS was severely lacking in sidequests. Most goddess cubes were not well hidden or interesting, the cube chests mostly contained useless rupees, and all of the skyloft sidequests were simple and pointless fetch quests that were pretty much force-fed to you. Aside from that, there were a few terribly annoying minigames. That's it. I really loved the rest of the game, but SS is probably the worst Zelda in terms of sidequests. They used to be so good at that. That's not to imply that it's a bad game, but it's something to be dearly missed. Here is a link to the article if anyone wants to read it, but it doesn't give any more insight to the translation. Okay, I hope I'm not the first person to think this. But I don't think the creator of the Zelda series meant for most of these games to fit into a timeline. A good point of this is the Final Fantasy series. After all 'A Link to the Past' was named 'Triforce of the Gods' in Japan. I think this whole timeline issue was started because of the North American localization team doing stuff like that. Also this timeline has a flaw in it. It says Majora's Mask wasn't before Windwaker. Anyone who has played them knows that inside the legend of the hero (or whatever you want to call it) It says the Hero splited the Triforce of Courage into parts before leaving the land of Hyrule. Which is clearly a reference to Majora's Mask. Frankly people need to step back and stop looking for some timeline and just enjoy the games. Wind Waker doesn't come before or after Majora's Mask. Wind Waker is clearly on a different time line.
Here's an updated picture, with the explanation of what the split was. First is hypothetically the hero lost, 2nd is the story of child link if Ganondorf never got to the sacred realm, and 3rd is after completing the story of OOT and sealing Ganondorf. IIRC Miyamoto has always been saying since the beginning there is a time line but he decided to keep quiet. It could have been because of the pressure, but it's also possible he wanted to build up a large enough timeline before he revealed how they all connected. Makes sense seeing how Skyward Sword was the 25th Anniversary and the first game Chronologically. |
