Giving them far too little credit. They'd be getting buttraped in a federal penitentiary if they were doing easy scriptkiddie junk. Unless it comes out two weeks from now that a whole dozen of them have been rounded up, messing with CIA.gov and skittering away clean is proof enough they know what they're doing. I weep for the copycats however...

Considering the CIA site just happened today, and they may not be in America, not sure why you're saying they've gotten away clean with anything. Even if they are in the US, it would take the FBI more than 6 hours to track them down, get a warrant sworn out, and serve it. As for their past "exploits", I doubt any of them put them as high on the priority list as what they did today.

Also, I think you're giving them way too much credit with maybe having encryption that could take a lifetime to crack.

I bet you anything when they get caught (And yes they will get caught) they'll try to jump on the moral highground and say "Well we were doing it for freedom!"

I bet you anything!

I was not aware attacking people's property and stealing personal information was freedom. I thought it was terrorism and theft.

Condoning nothing. Just because they don't appear to take what they're doing seriously doesn't mean they don't.

Who's saying they don't take it seriously? If anything, they take it too seriously. They aren't actually accomplishing anything other than giving support to internet regulatory laws.

If you think an attack of any kind on the CIA doesn't warrant a response, you are wrong.

Also the government isn't some corporation with limited resources that will decide it's too much of a hassle to find out who did it and will just move on.

The government has insane resources and they don't care what it costs, they just want to find who did it.

I wouldn't be surprised if Obama made a remark about this and how he will stop them. Finding Osama put a huge spike in his popularity, so I wouldn't be shocked at all if he starts a crusade against them.

Attacking the CIA, no matter how they did it, was the stupidest thing they could have done.

I'm so excited to see how this takes play, I want to see these *** go down. Someone needs to show that the internet does have consequences and isn't just an anarchy-like system.

It's funny how those who's greatest interest in net neutrality work so hard to drive it into the ground with policy makers.
Talk about being counter productive.

So was Al Qaeda.
And they were easy to track down?

It took ten years and a huge break to find Bin Laden, and he was chilling in a fairly populated area.

They knew were Bin Laden was for a long time. They kept him alive to find out as much information and take down as many of his followers as they could before they had to push the trigger. They wanted to make sure there would be no uprising after they snuffed him out.

Raelia, Tor just provides a layer of anonymity I doubt they are taking extreme measures to guarantee anonymity (the closest I can think of is stolen laptops that only connect via random WiFis behind layers of proxies) at all times. One if not most of them will slip up or have already connecting via their home ISP.

They've already arrested over 30 people they think are affiliated with the group "anon" from different Countries in EU. To think any of them are protected would be ignorant and would require you having a false sense of security in the easily obtainable anonymity tools available. Given the way they are going about these attacks just proves they aren't straight pro, if they were we wouldn't hear much about it and they would actually be turning a profit.

Also to say:

Trust me hackers keep tabs on other hackers especially friends, when trails of information are sprinkled around about people from time to time.. they hold on to it.

I'm way more impressed with Anonymous, and they're getting taken down left and right.

I was also impressed by WikiLeaks, and they're either in prison, under house arrest, or otherwise dead in the water.

The question isn't whether you can be found, but whether or not you make it worth the while of powerful institutions to do so in terms of time and money.

The fact these guys don't seem to understand that is way more illuminating about their actual experience level than the details of the attacks themselves.

I'll laugh when they get arrested, I really will. Do they honestly think they'll consistently get away with this and then just get a slap on the wrist?

It showed part of the passwords for them. Having 1/3 - 1/2 of a password makes cracking much easier.
