hmm in retrospect it does make sense for 5 STR/DEX, 15 attack/accuracy, 3% DA to trump 3% crit rate. Guess I have some updating to do.

Alright then, seeing as how the best CDC gear is going to require some work, for the meantime I'm assuming Phorcys body trumps zahaks as well then?

Just an update, but I'm loosely playing again. I'll try and take time to update the OP as needed.

If people want to help by posting some optimal up to date sets, that would save me some time. I'll also be adding a few more sets (Shield mastery Ochain sets, etc).

A few gear set suggestions.

CDC.
Huginn Gambieras. Yeah, Incredibly hard to get. But you're doing high end, and have them listed in the TP set already.
Next best would be heca+1 feet with +4 STR and ~6 atk. Then calma.

Requiescat.
Elemental belt. As a fTP carried WS, ele belt is best in slot. Phorcys hands. Drachenhorn. Huginn legs. Tjukurrpa Annulet. tp bonus moonshade(atk penalty varies with TP, so TP bonus = ATK+) Also, Mekira-oto+1 on latent days. Can't beat that fTP boost.

btw, you've got 3 rings in that set.

Also. You might consider just moving your guide to a new thread. And reserving the first several posts for growth. Then link this thread as a resource.

Thanx for the updates. CDC feet were just a mistake, but my Req set definitely needed a lot of loving.

Let me know if ya see anything else. I'll talk to a mod and see if they want to keep this as a single thread or split them.

I personally don't think Enif Corazza is a great choice for pld TP as it's really the only source of quadruple attack (only 2% chance in all) that you can give pld. Ares+1 paired with other Ares pieces on the other hand would start giving DA, which pld can get quite a lot of and benefit more from.

If Ares isn't an option yet though, i'd say creed would actually be a better choice as it will give you a static 20 atk/acc, 10 enmity, and not to mention damage reduction. For the top set, I think valk body might be decent if you can get ares+1 legs with it for 5% TA.

Just plug both sets into Moten's spreadsheet and move some gear around to see what's optimal. Assuming you're just going for max TP/DoT rate.

Neo,

I ask this here only because your xml is the only one I've ever used (I'm brand spanking new to spellcast, as in 20 minutes ago). I have a TH+1 Tarutaru Sash that I like to have equipped for the first hit of the fight but I'm not exactly sure how to implement this into your spellcast. Any ideas? Thank you very much in advance.

Fellow Paladins, happy days! I haven't found anything but trash mobs in the new areas BUT as PLD I was able to hold hate for every fight vs. a relic DRK, empy BLU, and empy NIN. The DRK did not LR/Berserk/Souleater every chance and the BLU was not constantly spamming spells, but regardless, it looks like there might be hope for us yet. I'll be testing out how long I can maintain hate vs. those jobs later tonight, with a healer and them "going all out," but I'm sure some folks have already played around with the new adjustments.

For one, Provoke seems to either generate way more enmity than before or enmity generation via weapon skills has been kicked down more than we thought it would. Provoke was able to take hate back after a few rounds of heavy WS. Shield bash was able to take hate with no other enmity and around 50% of the mobs health gone.

I'm not honestly sure how to do that, even with Auto-Exec. However when I had a similar problem I merely put the Sash in a JA/spell set that I was likely to use each fight.

Like put it in your Flash/Voke macro/set or something. You give up that slot for that gearset, but it's an easy way to "tag" the mob with an affirmative action, then swap back to your post-cast set.

It doesn't even matter enmity wise, any Melee using Berserk, Last Resort, or Counter Stance is going to get shed to pieces by anything better than a T.

Looks like PLD's coming back in a big way.

New mobs also seem to have higher ATK/DEF than older ones to make up for reduction in their level correction reduction, so they'll take a bit more ATK for melee to cap on than an equivalent level mob in the middle lands.

Not sure either of those would replace the top notch TP pieces I have listed, since Ares gives DA set bonus.

The helm would be a decent replacement for Phorcys helm during TP phase, though something tells me the Ares+1 is going to be easier to get than that helm.

The helm makes for a nice Resolution WS helm though, depending on the situation.

They seem to be neck and neck. If bg is right on salvage set bonuses, I think the first two pieces of ares+1 give 3% da and 2% for each piece after.
So i'm thinking the 4 piece ares set is 7% and Quauhpilli/pak+1 with ares hands/legs is 9% along with an extra haste in the head slot (that extra haste wouldn't be helping with the current set as it's already capped at 26% but it could allow for a replacement later as new gear comes out, or if you can't get huginn feet.)

After that though, then it's just stat comparisons in which both might be top sets based on the situation. Ares body/head being a lot more durable with the 9% hp/mp, reg/ref, 16 vit, and 6% atk, where Qua/pak would give 21 str, 2% more da, 1% more haste, and 4 stp.

I guess the main question is, is the 2% da and 1% haste worth losing all the durability? My view is just that qua/pak might push the dmg a bit more, where as 4 piece ares would be much more durable and so they could both be situational.

edit* You could also keep ares head and still retain the 9% da, the main thing is the 4% da from the new body as it's the highest amount of da you could get from any body while still having atk/acc/str/stp. Curious what you think.

The new Karieyh Sollerets are a fantastic CDC piece, and it's very easy to get! 15,000 Bayld at the Peacekeeper's Coalition.

Edit: I'm glad I didn't spend splurge on Hug feet, since they would've only been for my PLD.

@Outlaw:

I think I'd still stick with Ares+1 over Pak. The stp is largely irrelevant if we're wielding a sword. The 2% DA is nice, but I'd be hard pressed to give up the extra Def/Vit/Refresh/Regen. I'd probably consider it in a "acc tp set," the only problem with that however is that if you're fighting something where you really need the extra accuracy, it's probably going to be tough enough you'll want to be using more durable gear.

It's fairly easy for PLD to maintain hate now. Depending on what other jobs are whacking on the mob you may or may not have to decrease your DOT in order to get some spell enmity but that's what we're for, right?

I smell a small flame coming on for that statement. Yes, get as much dot as you can while keeping hate and what not, etc... etc... but if keeping hate on the mob means sacrificing a bit of damage, then so be it.

Since, you know, we can keep hate for once. It's only been a few years!
