I'd just like to start a petition that the Ebisu Fishing Rod counts as a relic. Not necessarily achievements if it doesn't fit into the formula, but listed under your name, similar to how Maat's cap used to be a relic.
Ebisu is still very hard to obtain, and even if someone was able to fishbot their way to 100 fishing, they still have to get the very expensive key item from the fishing guild and do days and days of fishing to Zaldon's quest to acquire the rod.
If anyone agrees or disagrees, feel free to post pro's and con's here ^^

it probably wont happen considering theres probably a ton of people out there that have the rod already. And its not really 'hard' to get the items for Ebisu, just luck with the fish (which you can buy). You really only need the KI to complete the quest

An Ebisu Rod should easily be worth at least as many achevement points as a Empyrian Weapon.

Except when you factor in the fishing bots into the equation and then the difficulty is significantly lowered. If they add this, then Maat's Cap should be readded. Both of which I'm against.

I only had to buy 3 Lu.rods, because I had to dbox the broken rods to my WW mule ; ;. I have a screenshot of me breaking 3 rods in a row! from Gugrusaurus >.<
Used up 2 Penguin Ring, at least until I got my Seagull Ring (1/1 yay~).

Maybe add a new achievement scale for crafting/hobbies/etc.... since there are many many "relic type" achievements in that genre. I would vote for that, but probably not specifically for it to be classified as a relic.

Fishing bots can farm gil, and then buy an empyrean. I still think Ebisu IS an "achievement" Doesn't have to be worth full "relic" points, but should probably be worth something no? For the people who actually work to get it, if nothing else. Who cares if its an extra little picture on someone's achievement list. Idk why everyone is so against it?

Arguing that it's easy to get if you bot and therefore shouldn't be an achievement, is like arguing that if you use a bot to claim an NM, it should drop nothing.
Either way you look at it, I believe that Fishing is currently the hardest thing in the game, or at least most time-consuming, and Ebisu Rod is one of the hardest solo things to get.
Personally I don't give two fricks either way, achievement points have never mattered to me, but I do believe you should get some kind of commendation for it.

I concur, an Ebisu Rod should count for some points. Maybe not as much as a Relic or Emp. weapon, but at least as much as the fishing skill required to do the quest if not more, because you can't just buy the fish and get the rod... A certain level of fishing is required as well as guild points acquired and spent, just to be able to turn the items in to attain it. It took me nearly a year to get mine catching my own fish, almost as long as it took me to get my Mandau, that alone should speak volumes about what it should be worth.

You can't 100% bot relics. You can't just afk and come back to a bunch of empy items in your inventory... You have to actually farm/buy pop items, pop the said NM, proc red, kill it etc etc. No bot that can do all that for someone while they afk.
