Ebisu Rod
Has there been any discussion about taking note of which players have this? I'd be willing to bet there are more Aegis/Gjalla/Mandau/Maat's Caps overall than Ebisus.
I always thought of it like a relic considering how hard it is too get.
1)level fishing to 30 and do multiple quests just to be able to trade fish to Zaldon. 2)Get a lu shang's pole(10,000 moat carp) or buy one for millions 3)level fishing to 78 and get the GP to be able to get serpent rumors. 4) Get sometimes 1000's of HELP I AM TRAPPED IN 2006 PLEASE SEND A TIME MACHINE hard to catch fish to get the 2 key items to trade for the pole or pay 25k and 35k respectivily on Gilgamesh to buy the fish, which could be 10's of millions of gil That being said there are quite a few. a lot of HL fishermen on Gilgamesh aren't registered on ffah. I'm currently working on my pole too(95.2) skill, but without a HL wood friend, fishing them is HELP I AM TRAPPED IN 2006 PLEASE SEND A TIME MACHINE because how often the fish will break the lu shang's let alone being able to actually catch the fish themselves. I mean...it's fishing though ._.'
I admire any fishers out there, I've tried to level fishing like at least 10+ times in 5 years, and I can't bring myself to get to a high level. lolol
I hope I'm not one of the fishers that go 0/600 on the fish, I'm having the worst luck with this quest ever >:( ...adn every other inside the belly fish D:<
sidenote: Screw you Zaldon. Srsly. Ebisu is potentially a lot easier to get then relics IMO, it just takes patience. Like every other covetted thing in this game...
IDK, I think relics may be easier. really just takes gil. You get get the Attestion in 1 run and same with fragment and weapon drop.
kinda the same with ebisu, but it is mandatory to take the time to get the zaldon trade quest, get fishing to 78 and get serpent rumors. other than that you could get a lu shang's with gil or your r/ex items with enough gil. And a lot of gil isn't easy to get c.c
What if somebody goes 1/1 on both items for Ebisu? Worth as many points as somebody who goes 1/500?
![]() Run wasn't even for me, we wanted the Dagger paper...now just to find 130M to spend on currency...>.>; Wooooodum said: What if somebody goes 1/1 on both items for Ebisu? It does, and that's why I think Relics shouldn't count either, lol.

Actually, I could be wrong, and its possible its not mentionned on the wiki, but dont you have to have a Testimonial (Lu Shang rod quest key item) to get the quest ? That's why it's called fishing, not catching.

Also: luck is correct. I went 1/1 on Opal Silk, 1/308 on Saber Shoot... so. no you don't need testimonial to get the quest. you can buy a lu shang's and do the quest once you get 78 fishing and the gp for serpent rumors. you can actually get both key items before you get serpent rumors but you need serpent rumors to get the quest from the npc in rabao.
as for luck yes, ebisu is a lot of luck. @Konoko you didn't do too bad . I believe average is around 200 fish per. at my server prices that's about 5 mil of lik and 7 mil in gug. for an average of 13 mil. that being said some people have had luck like you and get in 1 or 6 fish, while others have had to trade 600, 800, 1000, or more of each to get the key items. I'm around 0/50 Lik and 0/70 on gug. Still hoping. I've had to buy my fish to this point as I don't know a WW to go fishing with me, nor and Ebisu owner that would fish them for me. Nynja said: Has there been any discussion about taking note of which players have this? A very long time ago.... there was this thread. I kind of look at it from this perspective; I farmed money to buy a Lu Shang @ around 50 so I could continue to skill up effeciently, it was about 3M for the rod. Gugru and Lik both go for 20K per on my server consistently, so I can imagine that if an aspiring fisherman were to farm the gil up for a Lu Shang, they could (in retrospect) solely buy the two fish off the AH to trade. In that 3M gil, you could say you have a fair chance at getting the two key items, and since you technically do not need Lu Shang after you get Ebisu, you can just sell it for straight profit and if you were one of those people who got the items in that 3M gil range, Ebisu would be technically free! This is how I went about it.
Not sure how Testimonial Lu Shang fishers go about doing the quest. http://www.playonline.com/ff11us/guide/mogbon/index.html
You just have to get very lucky and win 2x the second place in Mog Bonanza -.- |
