The pretentiousness is high in this one. And this is why I stopped posting at bodybuilding.com, now it's here lol.

I'm not scolding you for your lighter touch with the subject, I'm just saying that I have no intention of feigning patience for ignorant declarations. If someone has a question, I'm happy to answer it. If someone wants to claim knowledge of something that they quite clearly don't understand, I'm going to point out their folly in the most constructive manner I can muster. If you'd like to come in and ease the tension afterward, you're more than welcome. Either way, I don't frequent this thread enough to cause any real trouble, so you have little to worry about. Too much high fructose corn syrup obviously.

People on both FFXIAH and bodybuilding.com cite PubMed like it's a general consensus. Not understanding it's one particular experiment that has NOT been repeated necessarily in a different laboratory. Most people on the internet have their B.S. from Wikipedia University and Pubmed and yet have no basic understanding of the field itself. They furthermore cite research papers that use e.g. mice and don't understand that translating results from mice>humans is a very complex process typically reserved for a qualified veterinary scientist. Especially when the dosages of aspartame given to rats were something you'd never be able to even consume in humans. You'd drown yourself from the water before ever getting that much aspartame lol
I guess we should stop drinking water, too! ain't nobody got time for an ld50
Hey everyone! I was looking online and through bodybuilding forums, couldn't find a good answer. I've asked my doc before and they just said it's normal with gym supplements.
Most of my protein is coming from meats and eggs only time I consume whey protein is in my PWO and casein before bed. I've read on bodybuilding it might be caused by the cheaper quality wheys and caseins? I'm also not consuming ridiculous amounts of protein daily, my macros are on point. But you can take protease, or reduce your intake at a given time. Bahamut.Baconwrap said: » Hey everyone! I was looking online and through bodybuilding forums, couldn't find a good answer. Less of a problem - some people still have it. Personally I would rather have some gas than pay outrageous prices for a pure isolate. Lactase can help too. but with casein in the mix it may still be prevalent. I take an enzyme mix daily anyway to aid with all digestion. Seems to help. Maybe for poorly filtered isolates. I have pretty significant lactose intolerance and fart like a machine gun if I don't use the isolate.
I tried lactase enzyme pills before and it was kind of a pain in the *** for me (reverse pun!), but whatever works for you... Phoenix.Suji said: » Maybe for poorly filtered isolates. I tried lactase enzyme pills before and it was kind of a pain in the *** for me (reverse pun!), but whatever works for you... So like Isopure instead of my current whey? But what about casein or is casein causing gas unavoidable?? The solutions i provided should alleviate gas with either. If you want to just use the replacement technique, replace the whey with isolate, and the casein with a steak before bed.
Ok I looked them up thanks. Take them when I take the whey/casein? Or when is best?
Isopure is one, yeah. I use this milk protein isolate (80% casein, 20% whey) from the site that Slug plugged earlier in the thread:
http://www.truenutrition.com/p-4469-us-milk-protein-1lb.aspx? They have forums there too and you can find feedback about their products. You can get a little lactose in casein products just like in a whey protein isolate but if the filtration is good it should be negligible unless you're very sensitive. Is this food science 101? *takes a sit in the front*
It's "Fitness and Nutrition general"
Going to try the enzyme pills see if those help. I saw the milk protein isolate when I ordered the micellar casein, which is not showing up on their site as of now.
Would the milk isolate be better for gas versus the micellar casein? I'll try to summarize the last few posts:
If you take lactase pills, assuming sufficient timing/dosage, you're not going to have any problems since the lactose will be broken down before it reaches the gas-producing bacteria. If it's a whey isolate, that means they are filtering out the stuff that isn't whey. Filtration isn't perfect so there will still be varying amounts of lactose but it may be fine for you depending on the quality of the product and the level of your intolerance. For reasons that I don't understand (someone more clued in feel free to explain), casein is assumed to be an isolate, while whey defaults to the concentrated form, so if you're dealing with whey isolate or casein, the above comment about filtration applies. Milk isolate is just a way to get milk protein in that ratio (80/20) and whether or not you choose that vs some other kind of protein is a totally different discussion. I went with the approach I mentioned since I don't like to take pills. So if you don't mind taking pills, go for it. If you'd prefer not, maybe you can find some samples of a product that you're interested in and see how it affects you. After a long long time, finally able to pull off one legged squats with a good level of depth.
Left leg needs work though; can't get nearly as low Phoenix.Suji said: » Meatloaf and chili are both well-suited to be cooked in enormous quantities and frozen. So my stomach wanted to thank you this month for my chili food-prep. It came out fantastic! I have not ate an actual meal that I enjoyed eating in some time lol It's really easy to cook too! Just finished my Fossil Park marathon.
Made a post last Thursday that if my post got 30 likes, I'd go every day until next Thursday (rather than my standard 2-3x a week); and since I went the prior day as well, that totals 9 days in a row. I also posted that if the post got 50 likes, I'd do a double one of the days; then I did another double yesterday for the *** of it; brings the total to 11 runs in 9 days. I might go one last time tonight and end it there (have no choice, as I'll be out of town late night tonight till Sunday So looks like 11-12 runs for 9 days. Fossil Park is an obstacle course I run; .6 miles per lap. Jog half a lap for warmup and walk the other half. 2 laps with all obstacles (14 obstacles/lap) then jog 2 laps at a faster pace (stopping only for the 2-3 bonus obstacles) Excluding warmup 4 laps (obstacle laps + jogged laps) averages to 44-46 mins; with yesterday being a personal best at 42.5 mins, and this morning breaking yesterday's personal best at 39 mins. There are many stations, but with 4/10 of the stations being pull up bars (well one is a set of monkey bars); averaging 97 pull ups(or variants of) per run, 1067 pull ups over the course of the marathon Phoenix.Amandarius

Would the milk isolate be better for gas versus the micellar casein? CSN Pro Whey. It's not delicious, but tastes alright (strawberry). It's not expensive. But the protein and amino acid profile is amazing. It is also very easy on the stomach; they add lactase to it. Low calorie if you are just looking to supplement your normal diet with more protein; uses stevia instead of sugar. It's not a big name and it's not a decadent calorie rich shake; but I'm not looking for a dessert and I've been supplementing with it for the past year and I recommend this good buy. So i have a vague question(underlined the actual question do to wall of text). I like to eat a lot, and constantly. im always grazing and eatting late. I blame it on the fact that i cook for a living. So i'm always around food, i generally work 3pm-10pm. ill eat a real meal more or less around 5-6pm whether im at work or home. i recently started trying to eat a yogurt or smoothie, something a little better then cookies/cake/candy around 8-9pm when i feel hungry again. I go to sleep generally 12-1am, and like right now its 11pm and i literally feel like im starving to death. I know its bad to eat late, and i have very little willpower for this kinda stuff, any ideas or suggestions for me? not trying to sound like a complete idiot. Ive tried just not eatting past a certain time and it just never works out. I only recently started working out and eatting better about 2 months ago trying to get in better shape for my toddlers so i can handle them as they get older lol.

A little bit of peanut butter goes a long way to curbing cravings for snacks. It kinda takes away my sweet tooth and the healthy fat in it satisfies my hunger.
Advice is don't give up too much too soon and don't go from a massive amount of daily calories to very few. You literally will be starving yourself and you will never stick with it. Only thing that ever worked for me was making changes gradually. Start simple, give up cake or something. When you get used to it go further. It is a lifetime commitment and keeping reasonable goals and expectations is important. You don't want to set yourself up for disappointment and achieving even small goals will inspire you to continue. Good and lasting results done the right way takes time. Be patient, it's worth it. |
