Soo... Diablo 3 anyone?
Opinions are just opinions, and have no real qualifications. If someone dislikes a game for something as simple as the box art, that's their prerogative. Not liking a game because of the graphics is plenty valid.

I liked 7 (decent story), definitely not my favorite however.
But keep in mind, that game brought a lot of people to the RPG world. So they are gonna have strong feelings towards it on a more sentimental level.
8 was pretty decent (kinda acid trippy story though), 9 is one of the most overlooked games out there (love this one), and tactics was an amazing game and story combined. 10 and everything after were all pretty meh (sans 11 of course).

Personal opinion: FF1-6 > FF7-13

Anywho... Graphics aside, how's Diablo III's gameplay? Is it more RPG oriented? Arcadey hack and slash? I haven't seen much on it.

Haven't had my copy arrive yet (I'm "working" right now), but from everything I have read/seen/heard it is basically a revamped D2.
So... mindless hack and slash, killing monsters, looting for the sake of looting, enjoyable grind game.

It's Diablo, lol. There's an entire subgenre dedicated to emulating its gameplay. If I really had to describe, it's... action RPG MMO style combat where you go around killing baddies in the most awesome ways possible to acquire vast mountains of riches and make yourself into a badass mosakra.

aside from the insanity that is chocoboworld to get some of the best items...

But it was like playing an expansion pack, nothing more. It didn't feel at all like a separate game, it felt like the same old game I'd played for countless hours and quit playing because I got bored with it.

Except now the RMTing is endorsed instead of being kept under the radar, from what I've been told/read. That's really the only turn off for me, unfortunately (well, that and no offline play, so now I can't be a loser and have LAN parties like I used to with D.II).. never been a fan of the whole "swipe credit card -> get equipment" philosophy. However, I did read something to the degree of it only pertaining to softcore gamers and equipment, so maybe it's not as bad as I expect it to be.

I've been wondering this, my ISP loves to knock me off for no reason, I would rather not get it and realize i'm going to be punished for it.

As for Diablo 3 being online only, heard that was only for the character that's played online that the offline mode (one that there's no trade etc) doesn't have to be, bit could have been told wrong.

You may disagree with their reasoning, and that's perfectly justified, but only so if your own reasoning for disagreeing is justified. I think calling someone a tool for having an opinion differing from your own is a rather ironic statement, and pretty shallow.
