Megyn Kelly was particularly direct about it, running footers asking "Questions about Obama's Response to Crisis," Neil Cavuto had on Donald who did the same, Hannity mentioned it in passing and drew the connection to anti-nuclear environmentalists, etc.
Im not one to jump on the fox news hate. All news stations are biased and not 100% truthful.
That being said, i heard them saying how obama was working on his NCAA picks and how thats bad and oh my god what a horrible mean guy.
I hate how people are expecting everyone to be thinking about japan 100% of the time. He took 30 minutes to go on ESPN and say his picks...what a horrible guy.

In Fox's defense, they're not doing anything but spinning a crisis into political commentary like any other cable news station in the country.

Meanwhile, they praise Bush for not making the children panic after a couple of planes ran into some of our most important buildings, including what amounts to Central goddamn Command for the Military.

I ***you not. Which show is blaming Obama? I watch it off and on during the day while I'm at work, and I haven't seen any of that.
None of them are.

Shouldnt our el presidente be more concerned.... What exactly did he do during the oil leak/spill? Wasnt he on some sort of vacation at that time as well? Obama could really use some good PR right now.
Hey even Putin got into a helicopter and was putting out two wildfires with it in Russia. Yes, he flew it himself.

Just pointing out that it's not what you know, it's who you blow. It's like console Fanbois, they'll ride their pick down the toilet and take everyone and everything with them they can grab on to. It's all childish clubs, nothing else.

I especially like Glenn Beck saying the coverage of the crisis and Obama's inaction is a conspiracy by George Soros to increase resistance to nuclear power.
But it's not just Fox guys. I picked on them because it was the first that sprung to mind. MSNBC has been using the crisis to take swipes at Republicans for days as well.

Putin was an ex-KGB agent, speaks fluent German and also knows some Sambo. Not sure as to what else he can do.

I won't question that chart (although these are statistic values and statisics, um, well, you can always bend them in a way you want them without actually lying).
Don't want to meet trouble halfway thou.
No, it's pretty legitimate, assuming it's per hour.
Also known as a Geiger-Müller counter.
Hehe, I know, just searched for term and wasn't sure which one to use xD
So "contamination meter" seemed more universal to me xD

Ah, they've upgraded it to "Radioactive" cloud. This morning it was a "Nook-u-ler" cloud.
Probably didn't occur to any of them that we essentially live in a radioactive cloud known as background.

I didn't hear the actual segment.
As far as Neil and Hannity go, I don't watch them. I barely pay attention to anything after Fox & Friends.

So im watching ABC news atm and they make it look on the verge of a nuclear disaster, and that US is ready to the rescue of the "fail" JP.
Folks on here said that the situation is under control>
Even Glenn beck in the link posted above basically played down the whole incident(except the conspiracy theory lol).
Also reports on the BBC werent that much dramatic.
Now, is ABC News a reliable source at all?
P.S. also trying to create alarmism on USA, not actually saying anything but kind of implying that radiation could come to US

Quote: 0149: Radiation readings at the stricken Fukushima Daiichi plant have been falling on Friday morning, according to Japan's Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency. Measurements taken about a kilometre from the plant were 279.4 microsieverts per hour, against 292.2 microsieverts per hour on Thursday evening.

Unfortunately in events like this, you see all the news people jump in and try and tell the "real" story which in turn makes them sound like complete idiots. :/ If you don't know what your talking about, you shouldn't open your mouth about it.
People are stupid, and because they are stupid they believe everything they hear, even if its the farthest thing from the truth :|
Edit: This forum is lucky to have as much accurate information as it does. Between Cata, Dasva and Jaerik, we get a better idea of what we're really seeing. ^^ So thanks to you guys.

Odin.Sheelay said: Heh... the problem is it's not just the conservative side of the news outlets here that are giving this situation a much greater wait than Japan.
Experts from all Europe were claiming Japan was giving this situation a gravity code that was too low.
I think Japan was classifying it as a code 4 (the max is code 7 and refers to catastrphies such as Cernobyl) whereas Europe has been insisting this is much closer to a code 5-6 Yeah but there is rather specific criteria for those codes. 5 is debatable but 6 is kinda pushing it. Even 5 says several deaths.
Caitsith.Neonracer said: Jae, Krizz, with all this talk, and how the situation is with the reactors... do both of you forsee maybe a upgrade to the facilites now, as we mentioned way back in maybe thread page 13-18, regarding the New Gen 4 upgrades?( that would be the new ones that would be built in 2014-2020?
I know there is still alot of work, and b/c of the seriousness, would this be the time to upgrade? Would the IEPA force them to go into this direction? Gen 4 are decently farther away than that. Even the closest one. Right now they are kinda in theory/planning stage for most.
Also they aren't upgrades really. All the designs are well radically different than gen 2. Some pretty cool stuff but jesus it's kinda crazy the things they are coming up with. Coolants ranging from molten salt to gas to liquid metal to super critical water. Much much higher operating temps to name a few things. So basically pretty much just rebuild or build new plants not upgrade lol

The International Atomic Energy Agency has confirmed the reports from TEPCO and the Japanese government, with a senior official saying the situation appears to be "relatively stable."
Similarly, surveillance flights by US scientific planes have confirmed that the radiation does not appear to have extended beyond the 20km exclusion zone that was originally evacuated.
Aerial photographs of the spent fuel rods in reactor four indicates that contrary to worst case scenarios feared, the water has not boiled off and the rods were not exposed.
Meanwhile, power has been reconnected to reactor #2 via a newly completed power line. It will take upwards of 15 hours to hook it up to the remaining reactors, and in the mean time, efforts to keep the reactors cool with water cannons will continue.
Radiation levels right next to the reactor itself are on the order of 100-400 milli Sievert, and outside at the main gate, it's about 6 micro Sievert.

Glad things are improving, and they will drastically improve once power is re-established , though i hope they've verified that the water works to the cooling units are "ok".

If I understand right, the pumps operated on battery power for hours after the tsunami took out the generators, so everything should be mostly intact.

I think things are looking way up. Hopefully Japan can focus purely on recovery instead of worrying about the reactors (as much) now.
