So forgive my ignorance on the matter, but will the nuclear fallout have any effect on the USA if ***gets bad?
Nope. Well other than maybe some of our bases over there. But from last reports doesn't look like there will be any really.

Just woke up; so did one of te plants blow up or someting?><
There was some kind of explosion in one of the buildings. Probably steam explosion last I heard
That's good to know at least. I saw a map showing nuclear fallout if the plant melted down that showed it reaching the US and some people on the german news were saying it was possible it could have large effects on other countries, but my lack of knowledge into the matter left me unaware if it was real or media hype.
Meh even chernobyl just spread thru lots of asia and europe and it was huge and there was decent winds at the time. Even if for some ungodly reason it did it would be so dispersed it wouldn't even compare to the radioactive isotopes all around you in your everyday life. But yeah from japan to USA is a long way for what is essentially dust and steam to fly lol.

There's a line at the bottom of the screen that's saying that the radiation level dropped after the blast.

It's really the iodide that matters. Basically your thyroid loves to absorb iodide and keep it there for a decent amount of time. I-131 is a common fission product gas in reactors and is radioactive. Therefore if you basically bloat your thyroid with non radioactive iodide it will be less likely to absorb the radioactive iodide and you should piss it out relatively quickly. Of course the amounts of iodide for that aren't exactly healthy lol.

1335: Robert works in the Fukushima district. He contacted to the BBC describing his decision to leave the area: "We have heard that some areas of the prefecture have been evacuated, but we were not asked to leave. We were staying some 90km away from the power plant. But three friends and I decided we would feel a lot safer if we moved further away from the plant. So all four of us drove 45 minutes south, and are now staying in a hotel. I didn't see any sign of panic on the roads, there seemed to be as much traffic travelling in the opposite direction. Things are disturbing because there is a lack of information. And as a foreigner it's even harder to work out what is fact and what is hearsay."

More of a reassurance really. Maybe increased monitoring. We can't really reverse the effects of radiation. I'm more reassured by the fact they are making the base that close

It seems they have the nuclear situation under control. They aren't really talking about that so much now.
