Obama also needs to do some big stuff before 2012 elections due to him failing to live up to what he promised.
Oh look. Here we are. Im surprised people were expecting him to achieve anything.
I wasnt. I get to be one of the "I told you so" people. Honestly it was either him or McCain/Palin. Lesser of the two evils. That's all elections are now-a-days. I'm starting to think that I should just say "*** voting" and not vote until I see a guy worthy of my precious vote.
Or just vote for Micky Mouse.
See... Looking at what obama has done...how much worse could mccain and palin really have been? On the giant scale of *** up that obama has achieved, the worst they could have done is matched him.
I am not an Obama supported but I would never believe Mccain + Palin would have been equal or better. How much worse can you get? Name one good thing that obama has done. And by good, i mean good for at least 75% of the people it affects.
let's see I may be wrong on a few of these because I don't fully follow the man, and feel free to correct them but I'll give it a shot.
Passed health care bill
issued an order to close G. Bay
Held on his promise to pull combat troops from Iraq
wait I looked this up, not sure on accuracy, but have at it with pulling it apart.
If you don't know the history, you don't understand the politics and you can't see the emerging future
Obama’s accomplishments
May 10, 2010
This came forwarded by a friend. I’m passing it on as something of interest. I don’t know anything about Robert Watson, whose list and article this is.
Let me know if I missed anything in the list (surely I did).
List of Obama Accomplishments
By Robert P. Watson, Ph.D. Coordinator of American Studies, Lynn University
Email: rwatson@lynn.edu
I am always being asked to grade Obama’s presidency. In place of offering him a grade, I put together a list of his accomplishments thus far. I think you would agree that it is very impressive. His first six months have been even more active than FDRs or LBJs the two standards for such assessments. Yet, there is little media attention given to much of what he has done. Of late, the media is focusing almost exclusively on Obama’s critics, without holding them responsible for the uncivil, unconstructive tone of their disagreements or without holding the previous administration responsible for getting us in such a deep hole. The misinformation and venom that now passes for political reporting and civic debate is beyond description.
As such, there is a need to set the record straight. What most impresses me is the fact that Obama has accomplished so much not from a heavy-handed or top-down approach but from a style that has institutionalized efforts to reach across the aisle, encourage vigorous debate, and utilize town halls and panels of experts in the policy-making process. Beyond the accomplishments, the process is good for democracy and our democratic processes have been battered and bruised in recent years.

Marriage should be allowed for all whether straight or homsexual. Its unjust to hold benefits from American citizens because of their sexual preference. As for marraiges in churches? Well thats between the couple and their parish... you can't force the church to accept it or believe any differently, that's just how it is. Marraige itself is pretty much the government recognizing your status and receiving the benefits/curses that come with it.
Marraige is pretty broken now a days anyways and I don't see why people care about it all that much... from what I understand almost half of marraiges end in divorce and people seem to remarry quite often. I know the catholic church does not recognize a marraige past the first unless one of the couple dies but the state will certainly recognize it. I don't see why everyone makes this a religious debate. Not everyone wants to get married in a church nor do you need one to get married.
Anyways... let everyone get married then turn it in to job creation through weddings/divorces!!!

And just like that, you make yourself sound ignorant.
Not as ignorant as saying only something good for 75%+ of the population counts as an achievement.
I didnt say of the population, i said of the people it affects. Lets use the healthcare bill as an example. (these are made up numbers) If it helps 37% of the people it affects, but hurts 63%...how is that a good thing?
Care to go into more of how it hurts people? So I can do more than take shots at the dark as to what you see as largely harmful as it may not be the same in everyones eyes? Nice statistics too, they are so cool to see. Only with out a source though, as if they had one they would not be so cool.
damn i threw the "these are made up numbers" thing in there in hopes that you would cleverly deduce that it was just an example and not real numbers....but it didnt work.
Also, its bad because its going to fine people for not having health care. It isnt just *poof* magic health care for everyone. People who cant afford it..still cant afford it, and now they are going to start to get fined for not having it.
Of course all that is moot, as its funding is going to get yanked before it gets anywhere near that stage.

I don't believe in genetically being homosexual or predestined love or any of that, weirdly that's the one thing I agree on with when it comes to conservatives.
It not being a genetic predisposition doesn't mean it's bad in the least though.
If any contrary claims may be said do say them, because I'm game for an actual discussion about it if someone else is. Wait, I got this one. There's a perfect test you can do at home. Go look at some porn and see what gives you an erection. Is it the sexy ladies or the buff dudes?
Now change your preference and do the experiment again. Does your erection change? Change my preference?
My preference was developed when my perceptions of the world were developed during childhood-development.

nah.

You have no idea what the bill is doing. From your above comment saying i am against everyone having healthcare. Incorrect. Im all for healthcare. But this bill does not provide free healthcare, or even affordable healthcare. Its trying to force people to pay for insurance.

nice slant though. At the very least it makes it not a choice like some folks like to claim, yeah? I was more against it being a claim that it's specific.
If only we had groups to support the robosexuals in our culture.
:P
I think my gripe with it is that it's taken in a way that people are predisposed specifically to be gay.
I don't really think it's something developed on specifics.
Have you looked much into childhood psychology? and like how a bad bowel movement can effect a childs psychology for the rest of their life?
that kind of stuff...it's weird lol....but not necessarily a genetic predisposition.
your brain develops as your grow up and the rest of you develops, the way you see the world and whatnot.
saying these things are mutually exclusive just doesn't make sense to me.
if that's not what's being stated i'll concede and agree that people can become "mentally ill" in terms of social norms and be attracted to a number of things...the wrongness of that is up to interpretation though.

Funding getting yanked? 2012 electios are coming real quick. Judges are already declaring it unconstitutional.
No what we have is a PR stunt. Small town nobody judges that no one has heard about are declaring it unconstitutional. The media has a field day and idiots like you get to parrot it!
Calling me an idiot? Large amounts of mad detected.
You have no idea what the bill is doing. From your above comment saying i am against everyone having healthcare. Incorrect. Im all for healthcare. But this bill does not provide free healthcare, or even affordable healthcare. Its trying to force people to pay for insurance.
oh go QQ somewhere else, people should be forced to have insurance as they are too stupid otherwise to get it.
Funny thing is that was a republican idea.

Name one good thing that obama has done. And by good, i mean good for at least 75% of the people it affects.
Got rid of G.W. Bush

Why should people who dont want or need insurance be forced to have it? And who cares whos idea it was? It would be a bad idea if it came from jesus himself.

Quote: WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama ordered his administration on Wednesday to stop defending the constitutionality of a federal law that bans recognition of gay marriage, a policy reversal that could have major implications for the rights and benefits of gay couples and reignite an emotional debate for the 2012 presidential campaign.
Obama still is "grappling" with his personal views on whether gays should be allowed to marry but has long opposed the federal law as unnecessary and unfair, said spokesman Jay Carney.
This is a step in the right direction. The Constitution was designed to protect the minority from the tyranny of the majority, and the only real argument against allowing two consenting adults of the same sex to engage in a civil contract is religious indignation. There is nothing in the Constitution that allows for discrimination based purely on religious outrage.
