Looking at my PDT/MDT and wondering other then augmented dark rings what I should be working on.
I am aware of the earring from Alexander fight but I not working on ToAU atm.

Legs have phy-4%/movment speed
when using staff I change to regen neck.
Rarely change to staff so looking if I can cap w/o it

I think even w/o lance I am a little over cap. What gear should I change out for what?

Only change to lance when w/o any shell and I am *** or w/e

Well, there's Metallon Mantle, some don't like that though because of the -eva, but yeah that's another -4% PDT. Obviously augmented Dark Ring and Colossus Earring, as you already mentioned. And there's a quest in Abyssea-Vunkerl which rewards you with an augmented Darkness Earring or Black Earring which can have up to -2% PDT.

As for your -MDT set, you could swap out the Gavial Mask +1 with a Suijin Kabuto, since you are over cap as you pointed out yourself.

I really should just try to pick up a Shadow ring and that would put me at 26% from dropping one ring. I should that would be best.

Well yeah of course there's the Shadow Ring and Shadow Mantle, and Defending Ring too. I didn't even mention those items as they are somewhat harder to get - I want all 3 myself lol ; ;

You only need 23% MDT with Shelrla 5 5/5 on, 25% with NQ Shell 5 I believe to be at cap your scale male, twilight, 2x mermans ring & e.ring and askar puts you at 22%, I'm not sure how many you do stuff with but you shouldn't find yourself without shell ever :< probably the most important buff next to haste imo lol.

PDT set look into Eisen Grip and Metallon Mantle

As far as grip was thinking no point, if I am changing weapon and losing TP ill go to staff and be over cap.

edit: Quetzalli seems really dumb looking at it on wiki maybe ill grab some extra DDs

Agree about the grip, you might aswell swap to staff then, and save yourself 1 inv slot.

Quetzalli is easy, he doesn't have much hp at all. Should be able to duo it with you sam and a whm.

only issue is getting blue for drop, not sure which drop blue effects, I've only killed it a handful of times and proc'd blue every time with TH proc to at least Lv.7 or higher and had both Crap neck and awesome mantle drop

Uh... When I got mine we went 3/3 iirc, with blue proc 2/3. I'd say drop rate is pretty high.

You may consider using Hydra +1 items in some of those slots, also the versa +1 items are nice.

Anything you would use darksteel on I think versa would be better, I am really bummed because I cannot find any of the Hydra +1 on the AH nor any HQ versa hands or boots. >.<

You may consider using avalons breastplate for MDT instead of the one you have there, Higher percent may free up some other slots idk.

What ever you do do not use earth staff, unless you are just trying to O-shi I need to live macro, if you are trying to tank with these then the Pole arm is nice, if your skill is capped and merited, or... may think about building a custom GK with -PDT taken on it.

Something I came up with for MDT

and for PDT

There is a lot of room there to move things around, I think it comes out to like 44% w/o the pole arm.

Sorry I know I am not a 90 sam as I have been busy trying to get ninja pimped out with my limited play time, and it is my fav job, but I had these sets lying around in my XIAH account and it was something I was trying to accomplish at one point, had to do some updating to current gear, had a lot of it planned out at 75 the last I looked at them.

Edited to get clearer numbers, with those 2 sets you can have near max magic defense, and 40% PT all the time available, or build a 10% GK for max -PDT.

I am wondering what other people would think would go best in the empty slots/ammo (if doing ammo swapping) or in the mdef slots?

The build I use caps out mdt(with shell) while providing decent haste and enough stp to maintain atleast a 6hit.

Someone mathed out a 6hit build being better than a 5hit build for masa, so once I acquire the proper build for that, the 6hit mdt set will fit in better.

Ive used 2 different spreadsheets to comfirm it aswell. Obviously buffs may deterimine the outcome of things, but thats always been an issue with things, making considerations for your buffs/debuffs with your gear etc.
