It gives more attention to something with essentially 0 credibility. People share them and they eventually balloon into being media-worthy. Many of them are completely absurd(not that that one is particularly relevant).

Wasn't personal, so much as a general statement. My apologies if it came off that way.

I don't really care about the soda study or consider your post detrimental, just trying to raise awareness of sample size and accuracy. Many 'scientific' studies wouldn't be considered relevant if the people doing the study weren't bankrolled by someone with a vested interest. Drawing a conclusion from data is extremely subjective, and they use that to claim what they set out to prove.
