Same exact thing with Gantz. Super gorey, slight nudity, but had such a great story and terrific social commentary at parts. Really short, but great anime.
I think they used the nudity well, and by that I mean at least they didn't turn it into something like Highschool of the Dead. I can't stand watching shows where they focus on making boobs jiggle and showing panties.

in regards to HighSchool of the Dead, while I do find that those scenes went way over the top and were just there to be there, I don't think it distracts it from being a good show, imo though so meh.

It's like getting mad at DragonBall for Goku constantly checking to see if people are boy/girl by feeling their crotch.

Oh I moderately agree on that note, I find him to be rather "meh" but I love me some classic Jim C.

I'd have to say Liar Liar is probably one of my favorites, not so much on the Ace Ventura though.
