Random Thoughts.....What are you thinking?
The whole of Frances the Mute is just one giant mindfuck for all the right reasons.
Old but topical:
Don't understand how you could even talk down about The Mars Volta... lol.
It doesn't have to be your favorite "type" of music but if you can't appreciate how talented they are; you really need to get your ears/brain checked or something. What type of music do you listen to Yomisha? Better be epic ***if you're /facepalming to The Mars Volta... (inb4ke$ha) Isn't The Mars Volta the result of At the Drive-in's split? They're also considered progressive rock not EDM...
Yomi digs aboriginal music.
bwah bwah bwah bwah! (that's a didgeridoo) Lakshmi.Flavin said: » Isn't The Mars Volta the result of At the Drive-in's split? They're also considered progressive rock not EDM... Yes and yes. At the Drive-In is also amazing. Lakshmi.Flavin said: » Isn't The Mars Volta the result of At the Drive-in's split? They're also considered progressive rock not EDM... iTunes don't have a clue. Edit! I will listen to anything that sounds good(to me). I can't restrict my tastes to just genre, lol. Between the commercials and the gossiping there's not much music being played anyways. I've started playing those 'learn to speak another language' cds in the car or my own mix cds. Muy guay! anything Elmo sings > everything else
I'm gonna just use this conversation as an excuse to post random music I like.
Lakshmi.Flavin said: » Like all forms of entertainment everyone has their own taste and forms their own opinion... You kind of sound like some guy that would be talking about the musical genius of the orchestra or something and that if you can't appreciate it then you're obviously somehow defective lol... True, but in some cases the obvious talent behind individuals should be irrelevant to taste. I think Volta fall in that category whether they're your cup of tea or not. There's no denying they are seriously talented musicians. Hell, I hate the majority of pop music but there's some damn fine singers out there. Just because I don't personally like their style or their songs doesn't make them any less of a musician! And if anyone quotes this and says Bieber I will knife you. Forewarned! I understand everyone has different tastes, which is why I said it may not be your "type" of music, but it's pretty easy to recognize talent and at least acknowledge the creativity and effort someone else put into something they're passionate about. I tend to be the weird one when it comes to music on this site and it makes me sad =(

I don't think I can ever enjoy Mars Volta properly. Stupid ex-girlfriend etc.
I like just watching episodes of Jools Holland. I'm never let down by a line up he has.
This is just one of the best songs I've ever heard. It's so chilling (in the make your back hairs itch sense, not the mellow sense.) If you talked to my parents they would listen to that and call it noise lol... terrible noise... There really is no universal standard for what "good" music is and it's really based so much off of personal opinion... It's argued amongst those who just listen and the critics... It just all seems so subjective to me...
Yikes nearly page 9000 already, seems just yesterday we were skirmishing for 8000.

I think it has to do with how those well versed in the study of music and its inner mechanics can break down and analyze an artist's works and finding the ingenuity therein. Well....I have no clue who any of these people are. Skrillex name sounded familiar cuz of the jokes/meme pics of him I guess....and has something to do with dubstep. Well I feel ancient... Nik, save me a spot up there! I'm coming home!
