I don't really know what to do on PC, so someone who does play on it would have to tell you how.

You could just block internet access to the game with a firewall? /shrug

Someone must know a better way!

But I really do want to try invading someone.
I'm pretty confident that with my sword being and only being level 35 I should destroy someone especially if they're someone who just got the game at xmas time.

I've heard of people managing to play with keyboard and mouse fine, so if you're determined to use it then you can. The game wasn't made for it though.

Oh and unless you have 3-4 hands the keyboard controls look impossible.
I use my wired xbox 360 controllers(Yes I go old school wired because those 360 rechargeable batteries blow)

The dogs weren't the problem for me, first time I fought him he caught me when I tried to roll past so I died going upstairs.
Second time I made it up fine and one-shotted both dogs in one swing.
Then I dropped down on his head and proceeded to 1v1 him.
