It was common up through the 18th century iirc, it died out since then for some reason.
Quite frankly, depending how the person was raised, and on the person: I have an issue with the concept of arbitrary age limits.
back to my issues with double standards etc, and being able to try 13 year olds as adults etc.
As a random thought (and I doubt it would be accepted well at all) make people pass a test for everything: including breeding. I know adults that should never have offspring.

typically at the time: most couldn't read/write, so yes a lot of older works are better performed than read. Personally I like to use my imagination at times though.

I totally get that reasoning. I guess they just don't taste foamy to me. There are really only 2 or 3 brands of ice cream I've tried that I like at all because of that.
