Reason I think is cause bards were a common figure of the medieval time, which is the kind of culture where all rpgs inspire from. And the fact that they're songs soothe the spirit of those out in the war translates as a buffer.

i basicly use it like a piece of paper, if the line nears the edge of the screen or a scroll bar apears i go down tho the next line
never allowing said bar to ever show up
